One thing I've always remembered about this song is the music video. I think MC looks incredible, for starters. But also, I've always thought there were some faces being pulled by WH - take a look at 4:10 and 4:23 of the video on Whitney's Vevo channel on Youtube - she has a bit of a smirk, and both parts are big "Mariah" moments. Caution album (94,421) by Bobby A from United States I have to admit that Caution was Mariah's and Bryan's love story and the obstacles that they faced in 2015 to 2017. So, I was thinking about what will the new album mainly be about. MC's life has really been drama free since Caution. It is really hard to say this time around now that she has begun writing and recording the new album. I really feel that the new album will be more pop and top 40 than we have gotten with previous albums. Hopefully we will get another Hero or There's Got To Be Away or Love Takes Time. I am the first Mariah stan in line to criticise but I pride myself on telling the truth. But, here, I think Whitney intentionally overpowered her in the choices she made. Mariah is singing the song as you hear it on the record. Whitney is quite evidently not and quite horrible to listen to in many parts of the performance. Mariah can be seen moving the microphone away from her mouth when doing loud chest notes etc. as she, and most people, always do. Whitney rarely moves the microphone. She is practically licking it like an ice-cream. It looks like one slightly strong inhalation will result in a trip to the ER or a very uncomfortable morning on the loo. In the big note part where I think Mariah should have done a whistle run Whitney is shouting into the microphone when she should not be - it is not so on the record. That climax sounds horrible. I think Whitney was high and was out to prove a point and I think it made the performance sound horribly aggressive. And for me the tester would be this: put this to record with accompaniment and see if and producer allowed this to be published and sold. It would never happen. (Sunday 21 June 2020; 17:42)

But if I had a time machine I would go back and pre-warn Mariah and tell her to break out a huge whistle run at the "Ohoh miracles" climax part. I would also arrange for them to redo the duet on American Idol circa 2010/1 and watch Mariah wipe the floor with her and take advantage of the difficult that Whitney was clearly having back then. Re: Great documentary (94,411) (94,417) by Bill from the UK Until Mariah's book comes out and she slams Whitney in regards to the Oscar performance, I'm maintaining my view that this so-called embarrassing shady performance is nothing more than fabricated nonsense. I have just watched it, having seen it many times, and no, Whitney didn't sing any of Mariah's lines. That's a fact. If I'm wrong, point out to me the time in the performance where she does this. If people are het up over the bridge and the "resilient voice" line, well, that was Whitney's part in the original recording so Mariah did the right thing to stop singing and let Whitney have that part. She looks across and smiles in what I perceive to be a smile of acknowledgement and good nature and appreciation. We can't help the fact Whitney naturally had more volume than Mariah when singing. She's always been a belter. Blame the sound engineer for not doing the levels correctly on their microphones. (Sunday 21 June 2020; 11:32)

Whitney (94,414) by We are Lambily from USA When women don't fake it or take shit from anyone else obviously the basic word bitch gets thrown around. I have seen countless interviews of Whitney and she was a funny, strong and admired women. Like Mariah said "Whitney is not to be toyed with." Men have since the beginning of time been so used to women just smiling while taken advantage of they always freak out when a powerful women comes along. The fact that most people who have ever encountered with her speaks highly of her says a lot. The way she nurtured and influenced young artists is unprecedented in music industry. Yes the drugs got the best of her but she left her mark on the world. Also isn't it funny that the worst person on this board is calling someone else a bitch, yikes that's tragic. Rip to Mariah's friend and one of the greatest singers of all time. She will forever be remembered. Ps: if you gonna come for Whitney's catalogue start with Celine Dion, because she has arguably the worst discography of any legend. (Sunday 21 June 2020; 00:51)

Nick saga (94,412) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City) There was no financial situation between them. They were responsible for their own lawyer fees, and neither of them were granted alimony, spousal support, or child support. Mariah was lucky to leave both marriages with just emotional scars because Mary J Blige is paying her ex-husband alimony of 30k a month. Even though you never get married to get divorced unless necessary I am glad that Mariah has found a way to find her focus, and peace after going through the Nick saga publicly. Also Nick has found his focus, and peace as well with work, and a growing family as he has Golden, and another child on the way with Brittney Bell and he is dating his ex fiancée Jesseca White again. She blatantly steels Mariah's thunder and even some of her lines. It shows on MC's face at a certain point. She is clearly thinking "Oh please, really?" A shame though. It could have become an epic moment in pop music history. I do appreciate WH as a singer but I doubt if she was a nice person. Let's blame it on the substance abuse. (Saturday 20 June 2020; 21:39)

Nick saga? (94,410) by Nikki from usa I think Nick may be doing some pre-damage control. I'm not sure how he went from "barely got out alive" to we got married "to have fun". You can have fun dating, marriage is supposed to be a commitment. Although, I do believe Mariah refused to sleep with him unless she were wed. Nick: "So, Mariah, I'll marry you and we can get down, but I'm out the second my good time is over. Cool?" Mariah: "So cool. Hey, would you like 10 million on the way out?" Somehow, I don't see Mariah making that agreement. Not all marriages last, especially in Hollywood. But, I'd be shocked to see Mariah put so much on the line over a whim. Re: Great documentary (94,405) (94,407) by Andrew from the United Kingdom The interview where Whitney turned up an hour and a half late, kicked off her shoes then treated everyone with contempt further reminds me that she was quite an unpleasant bitch. I saw her on stage live in 1999 and whilst her singing was rather astounding she was clearly high and acted with contempt towards the audience, mocking us for not knowing deep album cuts she sang between tracks. It made for uncomfortable viewing. I watched many interviews with her subsequently and found that she was always one of two things: miserable, aloof and unpleasant, or over-the-top and fake (with that one-second laugh snapping into a fake smile) and flipping between the two at a moments notice. I always mostly find her behaviour obnoxious. Shouting over Mariah at The Academy Awards also made for uncomfortable viewing and looked even more uncomfortable for Mariah having to participate. Further, Whitney looked out-of-it and acted like Mariah was not even on the stage. Worse still, I believe it all was intentional - pre-meditated, even. How obnoxious. And great volume does not a great vocal make. In terms of Whitney's catalogue, most songs from the album I'm Your Baby Tonight and preceding do not stand the test of time. They sound terribly dated and even a bit dull. The Bodyguard OST is good but I would never play I Will Always Love You. It's difficult to listen to and even enjoy with its bellowing of one note. There are great Whitney songs, of course: All The Man That I Need, I Love The Lord, I Believe In You And Me, It's Not Right But It's Okay, My Love Is Your Love, I Learned From The Best, I Look To You and a couple of others. But the rest of her catalogue seems dialled in. Indeed I believe for I Learned From The Best she actually recorded her vocal down a phone line and had it cleared up in the engineering. As far as comparisons with Mariah go, if Mariah did not have the volume, she had the infinitely more pleasant tone, a greater octave range and songs that were simply much, much better. There are many albums where Mariah could have picked different singles and still maintained her success. I believe Whitney was jealous of Mariah's unparalleled success. And she never came across anywhere near as endearing and as nice a person. (Saturday 20 June 2020; 11:55)

I still love his Caution reactions the most, how he went into depth about how great and modern the production is even though the vocals may not be all in your face like Mariah's previous work. She is 30 years into her career and she is still relevant. Also her resilience is unmatched so I think it's safe to say she is good and is legendary. I don't think she is done quite yet. Jack Reacts (94,400) by Susana from USA A few months ago someone on here recommended a teenager's reaction videos on YouTube and his channel is called Jack Reacts. Thank you so much for recommending this. I don't usually watch reaction videos because I feel like they just get old after a while and he's just so refreshing. He's become a true fan of hers and his channel is overwhelmingly Mariah. He currently has over 80 reaction videos of her. He is really adorable in his reactions. His latest video is All In Your Mind. He's lately been referring to her earlier work as curly headed Mariah, and today said it's his favorite era. Thought I would share in case anyone wants to check it out.
