Re: Why Hotlanta (100,266) (100,269) by Bobby A from United States
I think MC feels it makes sense right now to allow her to collaborate with as many Atlanta based producers and songwriters and extend the Butterfly Lounge well into 2023 recording MC16. She kind of alluded to this on a most recent chat with Lambs. She also mentioned during the chat that more collaborations with Dev Hynes and Brandy are on the way and a special collaboration with another female artist.

Ken Li could have been no.1 too but they botched its release, so that's 25 no.1s.

Why Hotlanta (100,266) by Brad from USA
I was wondering what would make Mariah wish to live in Atlanta? Obviously, it isn't particularly my or any other person's business but I was just curious. That area seems to have a good amount of industry folks there, particularly of the African-American community. Her work with JD has taken place there for many years. I just wasn't sure if there was something more, such as a family connection or something. I know she relocated her mom recently to Florida from the Westchester Co. area, so perhaps to be close-ish to her? Although, I'm not convinced of how close they are with one another nowadays. I thought it was related to some projects she was working on like her book-to-movie adaptation, which can take time. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks.

Thank you Nicky and Bill. I really appreciate the shout out. I heard from MC during a recent chat with the Lambs that some great things are on the way.

Re: Best album addition? (100,263) (100,264) by Bill from the UK
Mariah's should be #1 record:

1. Vision of love
2. Love takes time
3. Someday
4. I don't wanna cry
5. Emotions
6. Can't let go (should not have suspended sales)
7. I'll be there
8. Dreamlover
9. Hero
10. Fantasy
11. One sweet day
12. Always be my baby
13. Honey
14. My all
15. Heartbreaker
16. Thank God I found you
17. Loverboy (original)
18. Out here on my own (as per your note)
19. We belong together
20. Don't forget about us
21. Touch my body
22. Migrate
23. All I want for Christmas is you
24. Crapfinity (just kidding)

Re: Best album addition? (100,260) (100,263) by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
Loverboy and Out Here On My Own from Rarities should have been in Glitter. Out Here On My Own would be the perfect ending song in the movie (replacing Never Too Far) and be the second single from Glitter. Imagine Mariah belting the last chorus in the final concert scene in the movie. The lyrics fit perfectly with Billie Frank's storyline where she was all on her own after Dice left, and the mother too. Loverboy and Out Here On My Own would be Mariah's 16th and 17th No 1 on Billboard charts.

Re: Best album addition? (100,260) (100,262) by Bill from the UK
Completely agree with Loverboy. My other three would be:

1. Here We Go Around Again on the debut
2. Can You Hear Me on Emotions
3. Slipping Away on Daydream

He is a gem isn't he? He also sent me the beautiful bottle green version of the debut album when it was released for MC30. Thank you so much Bobby A, you are a dear soul.

Best album addition? (100,260) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
Of all the songs on The Rarities abum, which do you think would have added the most to the experience and enjoyment of respective album it was recorded for? (No, you don't have to replace a song to add the new one from The Rarities.)

My selections in preferred album are:
1) Mesmerized (MIAM)
2) Here we go again (debut)
3) One night (Daydream)

And yes, The Rarities version of Loverboy should have been the single and album version, so it's off the table for this discussion.

Shout out to Robert-Anthony / the Lambily is the best (100,259) by Nicky from Jasmine's Sofa
I just wanted to send a huge thank you to Robert-Anthony for going out and getting me a copy of the #1s vinyl and shipping it to me. I just recieved it in the mail today. Words aren't enough to express my gratitude and appreciation. I shouldn't be surprised though, the kindness of his personality pokes through many of his posts and I always enjoy reading his takes on MC and the music. The true lambily is really something special. I think this messageboard really brings out the community aspect of being a lamb and I'm so appreciate of that.
Anyway, I just wanted share word of this act of kindness. This gesture really goes a long way for me.

Re: Dreamlover appreciation (100,257) (100,258) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
I agree, I think Dreamlover is one of Mariah's best songs, and I get happy everytime I listen to it. But it's up to the general public if a song turns into a classic or not. Whether a song becomes a classic or not, is no exact science, some songs do turn into a classic, some don't. I think it's better to just appreciate that Fantasy, ABMB, Hero, Without You and AIWFCIY have become classics, that is no easy feat for any aetist.

Dreamlover appreciation (100,257) by jaker20 from US
Why is this masterpiece not getting classic treatment like Fantasy, Without You, and many others. Even Breakdown has become more of a classic than Dreamlover which went to number 1 and is one of Mariah's best songs ever. Maybe it needs a tiktok mashup or remix or be featured in a movie soundtrack? It seems Mariah herself also doesn't promote it as much. What's the tea? Does she hate the song like Migrate?

Re: Why does the Billboard article credit Mariah on BE? (100,253) (100,256) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
I find it utterly untrue that Billboard has been against Mariah. What I have experienced, is that Billboard is the only music news outlet that actually praises Mariah's success, but that is maybe just my opinion.

She's literally the most awarded artist by Billboard. They love her.

JC, I am seriously thinking about moving back to DFW next year. After 3 years back in the ATL, I miss Oaklawn and Deep Ellum. There's so much more to do in DFW.

Re: Why does the Billboard article credit Mariah on BE? (100,252) (100,253) by JC from USA
Billboard has actually always been against Mariah. Remember when she was the only female pop artist to have two songs debut at #1 before they changed the rules so AirPlay was more impactful? Non commercial releases were not even chart-able then.

I hope the BBMA performance does bolster streams and, in turn, overtake the original, but it's nice to actually hear her out.

Today, I heard the original Fantasy at JRs and the BBE Remix at Roundup and Mr. Misster here in Dallas.

Dallas lambs, unite.

Re: Why does the Billboard article credit Mariah on BE? (100,251) (100,252) by jaker20 from US
I think we all know the rules. But as I pointed out, the recent Billboard article seems to be crediting Mariah. Why they wrote it that way, I don't know. That said, yes the 50/50 rules makes sense. But when another artists who sampled a song, is the same who did a remix, both of which is helping the "original" (Latto's version) to chart higher. I don't know if this has happened before. BE already stalled outside of the top 10 a month ago until the remix was released. But BE is giving Fantasy a new audience too, so I'm not totally complaining.

Re: Why does the Billboard article credit Mariah on BE? (100,249) (100,251) by Bill from the UK
We need to be careful here when talking about Big Energy. The original version of the song sampled Genius of Love, not Fantasy. Just in the same way that Fantasy itself sampled Genius of Love. The rules seem to be quite clear that Mariah would only be credited if airplay/sales exceed that of the original which, in the US at least, appears to have not happened (yet). I believe she is credited in the UK as it is the remix that features Mariah which is currently receiving airplay and being purchased, enabling it to chart.

Fallen Angel by Ella Mai (100,250) by Bobby A from United States
Kirk Franklin and his choir did the outro on Ella Mai's Fallen Angel. It is exactly the same melody and harmonies as on Fall In Love At Christmas. The similarities are unreal. MC is always duplicated by other artists. The odd thing is that Kirk Franklin doesn't receive songwriter credit like he did on Fall In Love At Christmas. Can someone post the Fallen Angel outro for me at 3:18 where it begins?

Re: Why does the Billboard article credit Mariah on BE? (100,245) (100,249) by T from USA
Mariah should totally be credited on BER. Her original is so instrumental in the asking of the song in the first place, plus the fact that the remix is the reason imo that it even went top 5 at all, seeing how the sales skyrocketed after the remix came out. Mariah always seems to have to work overtime to allow people to see her genius.

That's not what the college student said. She didn't question why she wasn't credit, she wondered if she wrote it at all. Nice through, though.

It's not about the "missing" credits, fans get annoyed because T wrote five (!) posts about the same subject. So most of us are thinking: "Please move on!"

They are confusing and misleading. At least UK charts credit Mariah.
