Ironic (100,244) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
This whole writing credit convo is beyond ironic. The lambs (as a collective) get so frustrated that Mariah is always seen as a singer in the vain of Celine and Whitney and never recognized first as a songwriter, but when a Lamb is disappointed that Mariah isn't being credited as a songwriter, on a major platform, on a signature song of hers, everyone is telling them to move on and that it's not important. Is it no wonder the Songwriters Hall of fame took so long to acknowledge MC?

If it really is affecting you so much then send a note to the account to make them aware, if you haven't already.

Re: Did Mariah actually write The Roof (100,238) (100,240) by T from USA
It was a serious question. I always thought she wrote [...]. I was just wondering why on her official YouTube channel which she approves I'm assuming, every song lists her as a writer. Except [...]. And it's not an oversight as there is about six other names under lyric writers. Just not hers.

Article: Debbie Gibson fangirls over Mariah Carey (100,239) by MusicfanJ from Germany
That's a nice story. 80ies pop is always fun, just feel-good music. I recently discovered "the Midnight" and I thought Mariah could do one song whith synthi-pop beats. ("Blinding Lights" by the Weekend was cool.) Of course Jazz is still my dream genre for Mariah. But one feel-good song would be nice. Luckily we have Glitter with the 80ies sound. She was so ahead of the time.

Is this even a serious question or are you trolling? Even the most casual Mariah fan knows that she writes all her own lyrics, and collaborates on the music. She of course wrote The Roof, and produced it with Trackmasters. She always gives writing credits to the songs she samples, so there are other songwriters on there.

Book excerpt (100,237) by RibbonB from USA
This is from a new book Shine Bright, about black women in popular music, by Danyel Smith former Vibe editor. This is an excerpt from the chapter on Mariah. Skip to the last few paragraphs of this long article. Gives some interesting tidbits and it seems that Motorola liked to bug Mimi for sport.

I've seen it credited to lyrics Mariah and the Track Masters. Three lyricists and five total credited for the music, which includes two Mob Deep writers.

The video is horrible too. The live performance at the Jimmy show was average and Mariah looked tired and nervous. The only good thing from that live performance was her red dress.

I Don't and James Packer (100,232) by Bobby A from United States
When I hear I Don't, it makes me laugh. MC thought she had found her prince charming. They would have never been that Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn type of couple. The two had his business partner in his hear ear and Crustella in MC's business. That time was a messy time in MC's personal life.

Considering this was a description of a special moment with Derek Jeter, um yeah I'd say she wrote the song. Moving on.

Think you're thinking way to much into it. Look at Emotions, they list the album as "Elsa Walking Music Vol.1" - wouldn't exactly take what's written as gospel. And not all the videos have writing credits on at all. Not a big deal.

On YouTube, which is taken right from her official page, it says "lyricists" but it has everyone's name but hers. [Webmaster: Who cares?]

Yes, I meant the lyrics. Thanks for your information. YouTube should list the complete list of poducers and writers you posted. I really wish I could go back in time too right now.

Re: Did Mariah actually write The Roof (100,225) (100,226) by Bill from the UK
That's not quite accurate. Mariah wrote the lyrics by herself, the music was written by herself and the Trackmasters (Jean Claude Oliver, Samuel Barnes, Cory Rooney). The Roof, as many know, samples "Shook Ones (Part II)" by Mobb Deep which in turn was written by Albert Johnson and Kejuan Muchita. So, songwriters for The Roof are as follows:

Lyrics: Carey
Music: Barnes, Carey, Johnson, Muchita, Oliver, Rooney

Re: Did Mariah actually write The Roof (100,224) (100,225) by MusicfanJ from Germany
"The Roof" was written only by Mariah herself. That's what the booklet of her album says. Hmm but I don't know why there's no information about that in the streams. I'm retro.

Re: Did Mariah actually write The Roof (100,223) (100,224) by T from USA
I see that. But why on her official YouTube channel it lists four different writers but none are her? Does her management upload the videos or Sony? Either way, with millions of views on the video it gives the impression to anyone who checks that she didn't write it at all. I always assumed she was the sole writer, but now I'm not so sure.

I was on her official YouTube upload for [The Roof (back in time)], and when I click the more info arrow it gives all the songs credits including all the writers but Mariah's name is nowhere to be found. Am I missing something?

Re: The good and bad of Record Store Day (100,219) (100,221) by Brad from USA
Thank you all for your willingness to help me. That is very heartening. After another ton of phone calls and recalling Mariah's motto of "I will hunt you down" and driving several hours to a little record store few folks frequent, I was able to obtain two copies! They were none too cheap but about what I figured they would be as to price for such a special release. I have to admit that the relatively heavy weight of the records made it much more satisfying to drive all that way than it might otherwise have been. Anyhow, thank you again for your offers of help. That is so nice to see. I hope you enjoy your releases. From what I could garner, it seems there were about 7K copies made. Mine are like #s 2294 and 2295 I think. Thank you again.

Giving Me Life feat Brandy (100,220) by T from USA
After hearing how Brandy elevated The Roof just simply with her background vocals it made me wonder what could've happened if Mariah got her to do backgrounds on Giving Me Life for the Caution album. It would have taken an already stellar song to the next level.
