New album is an old album (99,677) by T from USA
Everyone is assuming that she will have a new studio album ready for us this year but you know how long it takes her get an album ready, and with no real label support she's not going to have the funds to work with the people it will take to make a hit. I think she's spent the last two years in Atlanta with Daniel Moore (In the Mix, Portrait, Close My Eyes '20) and his band. She's reworking Butterfly for the 25th anniversary at the end of the year. Hopefully a documentary will go with it. It's called the Butterfly Lounge. That's the new(ish) material. After that it will be close to Christmas time. I think people need to keep their expectations in line. She tweeted Bruno Mars to "come thru" to the lounge but it didn't happen. She's not gonna get high profile busy artists to come out for free. Would I love Drake, Beyonce and the Weeknd? Sure. Is it going to happen this year? No.

Valentine's challenge (99,676) by RibbonB from USA
I wonder how this is going and if there are or will be lots of participants. That's a pretty big prize pot, but... I'm not a drinjer, so not interested in her Black Irish brand, but good luck to her on getting some viral moments.

Re: I wonder (99,671) (99,673) by Edward from USA
At this point, I'm expecting something similar to Caution, but with 14 tracks instead of 10. It'll be more polished and with some vocal moments here and there. To be honest, in spite of its lack of vocal moments, I enjoyed Caution way more than what I enjoyed MIAM.

Re: I wonder (99,671) (99,672) by T from USA
If she's doing a [Butterfly] anniversary album release then I guess we shouldn't expect new music until September-November. Then it will be Christmas soon after.

Re: I wonder (99,669) (99,671) by Bill from the UK
What do you think MC16 is going to be like, sonically? Are you thinking an updated Caution, slick R&B with in producers? Or do you think she'll surprise us with either a gospel or jazz album, or will the next release be The Butterfly Lounge? Reworkings of her classic in the style of WBT Valentine's?

Brenda K Starr Christmas (99,670) by Jamie from UK
I didn't realise Brenda had covered AIWFCIY on her 2021 Christmas album. Wonder if her and MC are back on speaking terms?

Re: I wonder (99,666) (99,669) by Bobby A from United States
Thank you, Bill. We all need some new MC music to talk about. I think that she is not trying to rush anything this year. I am watching the ABC tv show Promised Land for the next two months until new music. This show has some strong writing with a lot of storyline twists and secrets. Check it out.

It was originally slated as the 4th single from Emotions but was shelved when I'll Be There took off.

Re: And You Don't Remember (99,647) (99,662) by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
I love this song. The fact that Mariah put this as the second song on the album must also mean she or Sony wanted this song or Can't Let Go for second single after Emotions. They even filmed a commercial in Japan using this song. Mariah said in her interview with Molly in 2005 (after the event Live 8 in London) that this song is one of her favorites from the album. I would prefer if this song be the third single after Can't Let Go instead of that If It's Over (too similar melody with Natural Woman). I always imagine Mariah singing either this song or Can't Let Go at the Grammy 1992.

I don't think Kim K will have another baby lol, Adele is a big possibility. Hoping that something big is about to happen with Mariah and her 20th number 1. Lol.

Well anyway (99,659) by RibbonB from USA
Congratulations to Rihanna and A$AP Rocky. Here's hoping for a healthy bundle of joy for the two. Enough of that other sordid discussion. That "sorted" heading alone is annoying. I'm sure it was a typo? My hollyweird predictions, are, that Kim K. and Pete Davidson have a baby via surrogate and Adele gets pregnant and totally cancels her Vegas residency. Something else "big" is bound to happen.

Re: I wonder (99,655) (99,658) by Edward from USA
Come on, Robert-Anthony, you're stronger than that. Just because someone doesn't want you posting that much, it doesn't mean you have to comply. They just have to stop reading your posts, period. If it weren't for you and some others, with the lack of news from Mariah's camp, the board would be basically mute. So, keep on posting and don't pay him any mind.

Some people on this board are getting to be so effing sensitive, it's off putting. Sometimes it seems as if Janet has exposed her nipple again and we have to crucify her all over again, messaboard style. It's just an effing nipple (opinion), get over it, rismurfingdiculous!

It's more that I didn't think such a reaction was really that warranted. Let's just take a step back.

Re: Nick's sorted relationship history (99,654) (99,656) by Anonymous from UK
Bill, I was just following the rules about insulting messages, "being nice or leaving", and wondering why there's a level of hypocrisy that we can say what we want any woman other than Mariah? I'm not sure you or anyone here would wanna be subject to those names. But again, I'm not the problem, and you condone what you wanna condone, and I'll call out what I wanna call out.

You're literally criticising someone saying they're "too much" for "expressing their opinion or concern about someone"/others, whilst justifying that people *are* "allowed to express their opinion or concern". As you said; if you don't like what I say, then so be it. But right now you're doing what you're saying I'm too much for, whilst highlighting my call out of the double standards on this board when it comes to bitching others/not liking it when it's done to people on here. One of us is asking for basic respect for strangers, that's all. It's not a biggie.

Oh, I didn't know that I know this specific post offended you so much. Your voice has been heard Stevie. I will be mindful of your feelings and stop posting so much. I am sorry for hurting you.

Re: Nick's sorted relationship history (99,653) (99,654) by Bill from the UK
You're getting a bit much PW. I get what you're saying but people are allowed to express an opinion or concern about somebody if they want to. If you don't like the way they've projected their thoughts, then so be it. You've not been appointed by anyone here, as far as I know, to determine what's acceptable and what isn't on this message board.

So anyway I'm playing the Butterfly remix EP. Love the bossa nova, even though it isn't one.

Re: Nick's sorted relationship history (99,650) (99,653) by Anonymous from UK
No, I'd say degrading women we don't know is "too much", but hey, we've all different priorities when it comes to respect, eh? Some insult strangers, some insult those who call out the ones that insult strangers. I know who I'd rather be.
