Re: Original title for Somewhat Loved? (99,457) (99,459)

Music Box was a 10-track album. The international version had "Everything Fades Away", but the official version only had 10 tracks. If the tracks are great, 10 tracks is great. I prefer Caution over MIAM any day. MIAM was full of fillers and missed opportunities at having some great tracks.

Hmmm. I prefer the shorter albums myself. Don't forget the debut was supposed to be 10 tracks. And the US versions of Music Box and Merry Christmas are 10 tracks. Rainbow is 10 tracks if you remove the remixes and interludes (and Did I Do That lol). As much as I love it, the deluxe version of TEOM doesn't seem to ever end, and Memoirs is like one continuous 90 minute track, and Charmie outstays its welcome as well. My issue is the frequency of releases, but that's because we got spoiled with an album a year in the early days. I get she has kids and all that, so the gap between albums will be longer, but I was hoping shorter albums would mean a smaller space between albums, but here we are.

I am sure MC will never have a 10-song album again.

If Caution had more songs, it would have helped for a bigger first week opening with streaming numbers.

Yes. Please deliver me my jazz album before my time here is over. And Rarities 2 with more 90s tracks I am banging at the door for. As for Greatest Hits, yes, far too soon after #1's and everything screamed "end of contract". The only reason to buy was that Endless Love was finally on a Mariah album, the remix of AIWFCIY and the UK edition had the Westlife version of Against All Odds on it. I've always felt #1's is the superior album. Beautiful cover, and a concentrated track list really helps keep the record accessible, in spite of some obvious omissions. The UK edition is great with the addition of Without You and Mahogany.

I would prefer if Somewhat Loved and Runway be included in the standard tracklisting for Caution album so that the total songs would be 12 songs. I found it weird that Caution album only had 10 songs.

I think one new studio album, one jazz album, one gospel album, and part 2 of the Rarities as well as an updated 4 disc GH is all we need from Mariah this decade. In that order.

Because what Mariah loves doesn't become a hit, whilst if she doesn't like it, it becomes a fan favourite and critics like it.

Bill, I would like to have known if The Art of Letting Go title had never been leaked in Wal-mart's website, how the album would have been perceived. MIAM was such a crazy title from the start. Also, I would like to know how the title The Art of Letting Go title made it onto Wal-Mart's website anyway. Wasn't there supposed be an original duet with R. Kelly titled I Can't Love U?

I am looking back at a news article from MCA on 08-10-13 titled Tracklist Revealed for Mariah's new album. Track 5 is The Dream collaboration called Hope Street. I think that it must have been the original title of Somewhat Loved. It's funny that we all have forgotten Somewhat Loved. Do you think it will ever make it on a greatest hits collection? Lol.

I totally agree. It's sad that thirty years into her career the available greatest hits set focuses only on her first decade. I would love an elaborate retrospective but we ain't getting that. We got The Rarities though, which I absolutely loved, so that's something.

More collaboration needed (99,447)
by Bobby A from United States

When I look at the songwriters on the first two singles from Mary J. Blige's new album, I can only hope MC is looking at H.E.R., D'mile, DJ Khaled, Lucky Daye, Denisia Andrews, and Brittney Coney. MC is going to have to shake it up some on MC16 if she is going to even expect some airplay. MJB is going to own February with her new album and her Superbowl performance.

Yes, I also love the natural look on her. Very pretty. "Hotel Transilvania" is such a funny animated movie series by the way. It's good to see MC is having some fun. Mr. Dracula looks cool too.

I'll never understand why MC dragged Caution. Everyone, fans and critics alike, rated it as a really concise, tight, clever album that actually presented her correctly in terms of vocals. MIAM before it was like a Frankenstein album, pitched up and spliced and auto tuned and manufactured to the point that it didn't even sound like Mariah anymore. Caution was a really moody, somewhat dark album that I loved. Giving Me Life, The Distance, Stay Long Love You etc. The only misstep for me was GTFO. Whilst sonically I loved it, lyrically it was the worst thing she ever did. Even Crapfinity was better. Wait, no it wasn't. My playlist has the instrumental of it, and adds I Don't and Unforgettable, which actually go really well alongside the other tracks.

Caution (99,442)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
Caution to me always felt like that album unlike any other MC album. It had a messy rollout, wrong single choices and she bashed it a year later during interviews. It should only have been released in Japan like Monica did All Eyez On Me in 2002. After some personal sorrows, she released After The Storm in 2003.

I've always loved "Lil Love". See, that's what you call a great collabo even when there were four acts on it. I played it so much I thought the mp3 was going to get corrupted, lol. I still listen to it every now and then. I also love "One and Only Part II", but I prefer the version on Twista's album.

How many of you remember this jam? I finally found a copy of Strength and Loyalty at my local 2nd and Charles. Her vocals are not that great in 2007, but the whistles notes are hot.

I know. I just wish it all could've been different with a big greatest hits package in 2015 on her 25th anniversary. #1's could've even been a bigger seller if they kept up with that one instead of having GH released three years after #1's.

Robert-Anthony is just being sarcastic. We all know Mariah can't act for shit. Well, bringing her own lighting and keeping her shots in soft focus is not acting.

In her book she said when she renegotiated her deal to leave Sony she was required to give them a greatest hits album. That's why by the time they finally released it after she left she barely promoted it.
