Re: Best opening line (97,797) (97,828) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
Everyone knows the best opening line is from Fantasy: "Now, when you walk by every night, talking sweet and looking fine.."

Nope. She sings "Now..." on the record. I even bought some new headphones for my faulty ears. Sorry, hun. Back to the spreadsheets.

Lol, you did though. She says "Honey you can have me when you want me", clear as day. The studio version, remixes, live performances, and lyrics all support this. You did mishear it, but it's understandable after you explained being hard of hearing, as I also misheard it for several years. What she does is sort of skip the "o" so it's more like "h'ney you can have..." and as I explained the "ho" bit sort of catches in her throat a bit. It's not her cleanest or clearest opening, but she definitely does not sing "now".

I could not agree more. Until I opened up that gorgeous brown booklet I always thought it was, "Now you can have me when you want me."

I misheard neither the lyric, nor you. No problem, we can do it this way.

Weren't you already doing that all this time? Haha.

I think the fast rapping at the end is this versions take on "I would climb a mountain high".

Re: Best opening line (97,815) (97,821) by Bill from the UK
You misheard a lyric, it happens, I don't see why you have to call me boring though. We all do it, especially as Mariah's enunciation isn't always that great at times. I was coming here to add but see others have already got there before me, but it's even more prominent in the re-sung remixes. Once you do hear it though it becomes quite obvious.

Also I didn't know you were hard of hearing so I am sorry if my headphone comment was insensitive.

Do you like this song? I don't *not* like it, I just feel I am waiting for something to happen that doesn't come. In their first outing it was the "I would climb a mountain high...". The songs needs this kinda peak.

When I was 16, the year Honey was released, I really thought she said "There you can have me when you want me." Then after I bought the album and read the lyrics and watch all the live performances, only I realized she sings "Honey you can have me when you want me."

Re: Best opening line (97,812) (97,817) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Lol how does "now you can have me when you want me" even make sense? Even in the remixes she says "honey you can have me when you want me". In the Morales remix and the original she says it in the beginning, in the JD remix she says even more clearly "oh honey you can have me when you want me", and then repeats it multiple times at the end. Andrew is on a different tangent today.

Where I Belong 3rd most added song on Rhythmic (97,816) by T from USA
WIB was the third most added song on rhythmic radio. And the video is nearing 10 million views. Lets go.

Re: Best opening line (97,812) (97,815) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
I always took this as an example. Mariah may sing "Honey, you can have me..." in live performances but it doesn't change that she sang "Now, you can have me..." on the track, regardless of print. In my opinion.

I may possibly not claim to be the authority on anything here but having been born very hard of hearing - so much so that I could not speak properly through my early years - and having had to rely upon lipreading throughout childhood whilst many surgeries were performed on my ears, I was pretty good at reading lips. It's one of the reasons I can call out Mariah lipping from a mile away standing on my head whilst spinning.

Still with considerable loss of hearing at specific frequencies (and worsening according to my latest audiology) day-by-day I rely upon lipreading to single out the voices of those speaking to me in accumulative and background noise. It means I am constantly looking at someone's mouth rather than their eyes - which I often have to explain isn't out of rudeness but necessity. Masks for Covid is a pain.

I think I can say I am good at lip reading. In fact, I could pick you boring the arse off someone at a distance in a noisy crowded hallway whilst Mariah stands at the top or it singing "Honey, you can have me when you want me."

No, I was just musing, not replying to you. I am trying to multi-task with a lot of work. What I should do is create a lot of nerdy nonsensical spreadsheets that really don't mean anything to anyone, sprinkle that with an air is superiority and use that as a substitute for a personality. But I won't.

Wait what? What are you even talking about? Were you even replying to my post? Where did I give Nick a pass because he's wealthy? I said he's a mess and immature.

Re: Best opening line (97,810) (97,812) by Bill from the UK
I mean, it's actually "honey" though. The lyric booklet confirms as do all the live performances where you can hear it more clearly so (ellipses) yeah.

Invest in some headphones that don't come free with your phone.

Re: Nick (97,809) (97,811) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
Mariah had babies with Nick Cannon? No. Nick Cannon had babies with Mariah Carey. On a conveyor belt of stereotype, he is. Because he is financially wealthy, this is okay? Give him a hundred dollars in his bank account: is your levity and moral judgment the same? Is it? Financial wealth does not negate moral bankruptcy.

Oh, William. Some people say it's "Honey..." some people say it's "Now...". Google it. I say it's "Now...".

"My opinion would be different if clear separation was between the pregnancies but he got these hoes in rotation." Oh my haha I spit my coffee out laughing. Honestly though I always thought Mariah and Nick would reconcile and get back together because of their history and the kids but now there isn't any chance. And it's for the better too I guess. Nick was so immature when they got married (leaking their phone numbers and all) I thought he'd become more mature with age and they'd get back together but clearly he's still out there being a mess. I wonder how Mariah feels. We all know once Mariah is done with someone she doesn't acknowledge them anymore but with Nick she really put the kids first and was civil.

The only good thing is that the children will never have financial problems. Three different women in such a short period with babies. It really says a lot about him. What did Mariah once sang: "He brings the drama, six baby mamas." Well I hope it will not end with six. Lol.

Re: Best opening line (97,802) (97,806) by Bill from the UK
It's actually "Honey you can have me when you want me", not "now". But her voice sort of catches on the "ho" syllable and you mainly hear the "ney", so understand how it can be misheard.

The beauty of having a good sound set up and speakers etc. is that you notice these things. For years I thought she sang "yeah, you can have me when you want me".

Re: Nick (97,803) (97,805) by Leo from LAMBville
I agree with Andrew! Nick having all these "Baby Mommy" situations. My perspective is Nick calls himself a king when he lives like a clown. How do you call yourself a king and multiple with different woman in such a short period of time. I understand people live different lives and may not represent the "norm" but it's disgraceful to not only himself as a man but to his children and the 2nd and 3rd women to have his children. You basically sit back and have unprotected sex with someone who has zero interest in being 100% to your family you both create.

My opinion would be different if clear separation was between the pregnancies but he got these hoes in rotation.

Today Where I Belong goes for radio adds (97,804) by T from USA
Today we should all call one station in our area to request. One of two things will happen with this song. Either it will start to get rhythmic play and Mariah will be back on a radio format not seen since 2015s #Beautiful. Six years ago. Or the song will come and go without as much as a whimper. There are a lot of factors at play of course. But if we don't all do our part this week then we shouldn't complain if Mariah is yet again shut out of radio. Building a relationship with a format is important for her next release. Unless she is planning to work with Walter, she will need rhythmic to have any kind of success. In all actuality many casual listeners believe Mariah's last current song was Obsessed in 2009. We can also do our part by sharing the video everywhere. And pressing like on other shared posts of it. But specifically radio will help the video get more views. Lets do this, we have the casual hip hop fans on our side.
