She hasn't had a hit since #Beautiful, all her singles after that have been flops. Is then A No No a flop, if a flop is the standard? No, A No No is the best single and video Mariah has released in years, for us fans to enjoy. I don't think many here think that Mariah will have massive hits again. I don't even think Mariah her self thinks that. So, if I understand you correctly, a new single, a cool new video, a tour, is not enough for you. She has to be everywhere, omnipresent, in the US and in Germany at the same time, on every magazine cover and on every talkshow. Don't you think Mariah her self is a bit tired of this? Don't you think Mariah herself is enjoying her millions of dollars, while still have the opportunity to express herself through music, getting the critical appraisal she has deserved for years? This is not enough, is it, for you? Tell me, what kind of standards do you have for your own life? I hope you are busy doing everything you can possibly do to get the most out of time. Now it's all so far away, but you still haunt me" is the same as "I can't remember when you last were tender, as it's always touch and go, the silence chills me to the bone". Both indicate someone used to be passionate about her and now they're not. And PS Everything Fades Away was published in 1993. Don't know where this "unused Emotions track" theory sprang from (based on no evidence at all) unless you can point me to the quote saying that? (Wednesday 13 March 2019; 15:38)

Until MC chooses to speak on these topics such as her voice we can continue to assume what happened. I no longer need an answer for myself. I appreciate MC for her limitations as long as she is healthy and able to give me quality music I am ok. If I choose to continue to bring up the MC that was from 1990-1996. This is why YouTube and DVD’s and other forms of media somewhat still exist. But we all have certain things regarding MC that we want answers to but that does not mean that we are entitled to them. Everything Fades Away and Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen leaves you with very nice impressions of both albums. Everything Fades Away was my favourite Mariah song for the beginning years of my fandom. It was so dreamy, always listened to it maybe twenty times in bed before going to sleep. It's the same for God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman (which wasn't designated a bonus track, it was simply the ending of Merry Christmas, again, everywhere except America). Jesus Oh What a Wonderful Child is a brilliant, amazingly delivered performance, but I loved how the acapella of GRYMG dials it all back down and again leaves the album on a somewhat haunting note. Why settle for one Mariah when you can twenty of them harmonising with each other? During Rainbow promo interviews, MC said it was her first album that ended on a "happy note", which indicates she may have viewed EFA as the closer for Music Box, much as some people may not want to hear it. I don't buy this whole Tommy "demanding" songs be removed notion as there is zero evidence for that. If that was the case, EFA wouldn't have been on the Hero single nor on more releases of Music Box than it wasn't. As for Slipping Away, arguably Long Ago has the exact same theme and message and that remained on the album without a problem. I prescribe to the theory that it was in fact replaced with Melt Away, which was originally planned by Mariah and Babyface to be part of Waiting to Exhale. (Wednesday 13 March 2019; 09:05)

EFA is the perfect ending to the album because the album is almost one non-stop powerhouse vocal. EFA is as if Mariah is leaving the studio and driving into the sunset streets with the top down chilling out and being pensive. The piano melody is haunting especially when accompanied with "It only fades, it only fades..." floating over it. "Every everythi-yeng fades awaaaay" and "Nothing ever stays the same babe, nuth-ing ever stays the same" make the song worth listening to alone. (Wednesday 13 March 2019; 01:56)

Watching her four rows away from the stage. So excited since I wanna see her sing 8th Grade live (just has a personal meaning for me). Music Box is a pop album and closing the album with an R&B ballad wouldn't work. Maybe Everything Fades Away was the first song Mariah wrote and recorded for the album before Tommy and the other Columbia executives demanded that she make a more pop leaning album after Emotions underperformed compared to her debut. Or it was written during the Emotion sessions and not recorded until she began work on Music Box. Maybe she'll address why these beloved songs were relegated as b-sides in her memoirs. All that's ever been said is that the were deemed too urban to be included on their perspective albums. We all know Slipping Away wasn't included on Daydream because it addressed the martial discord between her and Tommy. (Wednesday 13 March 2019; 00:23)

You know, you can't use the same explanation for why some people like tall people to explain why some people like short people. So, for the Americans who don't like EFA, it can be explained by cognitive dissonance. One of the reasons for why some Americans do like the song, might be that they don't have cognitive dissonance in this particular case. But further explanation I don't have for the time being. Personally I didn't care for it when I was young, I also thought it was boring. As the years have gone by I can appreciate it more. I can see how it would be a good album closer. I was 16 at the time and everything Mariah did was just right (except for one or two songs on Emotions). I have never thought that the song isn't similar to the rest of the album.
