I beg you all, stop calling that fantastic record "Einstein". It's neither cute nor funny. E=MC2 was, and is, a great title for a record.
Mariah Carey's Einstein? No.
Parlez vous francais? I said no. Lemme translate it: I said no. I can say it en español: no. Portuguese? Boy, you know. Japanese? Boy, you know. I said it: I said no. I said it: I said no.

Respect, but I disagree. I can forgive Mariah's lipsyncing and awkward transitions from live to pre-record and the flat notes - if it's a normal show. The Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour was the most fun I've ever had at a concert.
But in the Christmas show in London's O2, the smoke and mirrors was very apparent because the show was so slow and the songs not fan-favourites, per se.
You're right: watching Mariah in an arena is the Mariah Carey show - once you're there you sing, you dance, you laugh, you cry, for your favourite Mariah songs are so indelibly loud and everyone is partying.
The Christmas shows are ballad heavy and all the mirrors and smoke in the Universe can't hide certain truths.
Sweet Sweet Fantasy was amazing. Best night ever.

Just go and enjoy the show, however you don't need to spend $1000 for front row. The seats up and off to the side offer better views with less expense. Once you're there, you'll barely care about the whatever she may or may not mime. It's the "Mariah Carey" show so have a great time.

It's great your posting after such a long time: but, bro, if you spend $1000 on a front row seat to the greatest shit show on Earth, you need your head examined.
It baffles me that Mariah knows she cannot sing in tune, or produce a decent vocal right now and she's taking people's money. 'Tis rather audacious. Given that she was possibly the first person to put "YouTube" into a lyric, she must actually watch the videos on it, right?
$1000? Go on vacation, see the world, enjoy the fruits of the Earth, feel as alive as when you were young and the world was anew. Do not waste it watching someone be delusional.
Besides, if it's delusion you need, you can come here for free and read Terna's posts. And I invite you into his head with me. Rent's free, and it's very spacious, indeed.
I'm thinking of installing a water feature.

Wow, I haven't posted here in years. I see some familiar faces still live here. Is anyone else torn on whether or not to go see Mariah in this upcoming run of shows? On the one hand, I want to see her because I've been a lamb for 25 years. With so many stars dying, there is always a scary thought of what if this is your last chance in the back on my head. On the other hand, her performances are just awful and maddening these days. Those shows last year had me so upset and sad for her. I also hate how she waits until October to publicize the shows. Why not tell us in July or August so that people can get their coins and travel set ahead of time? It's inconsiderate considering that the shows are in the midst of 2 holidays. I had to ask myself could I justify paying up to $1,000 for a front row seat (I'm too old of a lamb to sit in the back) just to hear her sing flat, and lipsynch the same old songs in the same old arrangement? Yet... a part of me still longs to go just for the merch and the chance to be seen by her.

I'm sure I'm not alone in having an impending sense of dread, rather than excitement, about the upcoming Christmas concerts. At this point we know the drill. 95% lipped performances with the occasional "eh" barked out, peppered with a couple of verses being "spoken melodically" for good measure. The focus will be on the hair, make up, breasts, and shimmering gown or, heaven forbid, a return to those hideous leotards.
YouTube will be littered with comments from the delusionals saying it's live, she has a cold, she has nothing to prove, she's preserving her voice etc. That last one always gets me lol. What on earth is she preserving her voice for, if not when performing live in concert? I mean, she's been preserving her voice since 1997. It's preserved for heaven's sake.
My advice as Mariah's manager? Cancel the concerts, retire gracefully, and focus on re-releasing back catalogue specials. Start with The Rarities II You (I Lose Control, We're Not Making Love Anymore, There for Me, and Randy's Theme all should have been represented on the original), find and release your infamous demo tape so we can experience what Tommy did in the limo that fateful night, HD the crap out of the Music Box, Daydream (especially London, which I attended), Butterfly, Rainbow and Charmbracelet Tour footage, and please, seek permission from the estate of Prince to release your Glitter-era duet.
Stagger that out over the next few years with "30" releases of the studio albums as their anniversaries hit and everyone will forget about the dreadful performances of the last 10-15 years which are now greatly outweighing the good.

Is a 12" release really necessary or wanted? I get it was popular on TikTok but it's not like it broke the charts. I find Mariah fixates on something these days even when the moment has passed it desperate need for it to be popular. I wish she would fixate on getting herself back to a calm and controlled person again rather than being erratic and not being able to just have a conversation.

Einstein is an album enjoyable more than TEOM. Sure there are many fire records on TEOM but Einstein is in a different layer. The freest Mariah Carey has ever been. Artistry, vocals, looks and having fun. Too bad NC ruined it lol. Anyways, the trade-off are the twins which should be her whole world and not her already established career.
Not because I am a fan but everytime TMB goes in radio - which TMB was labeled as her weakest sounding Number 1 - this really deserved to be on the top. If released now, does not sound dated and listening to it makes me in awe that, she really did dig this vs her peers which was left in the encyclopedia era.
The only thing that really make fans angry is her lack of honesty which I think she owes to us. If she can't do stuff anymore then tell it to us, I think the lambily world can support her than being rapped as stiff like wood baby ala Missy Elliot.

Bill, where have you been? I opened up my Mariah book just for you. Lol. Great post as always. We are watching MC sink further in the Tyrrhenian Sea. Her mind is in Capri while her body is in New York preparing for 13 facade of Christmas concerts. The four employees who could have a talk with her and get her to stop these concerts are Daniel, Maryann, Trey, and Takeytha. They are participating with her in these concerts that we all know will not make MC sound and look any better this Christmas. How can they not say anything and watch what she doing to herself? I see their checks in their hands as they run to the bank.

Lot's of people view E=MC2 has this light fun pop album compared to The Emancipation of Mimi. A fun summery record that you listen to to get into beach or party mode. So songs like Obsessed or Betcha, Hate U, It's a Wrap wouldn't work on it. But I never viewed it in such a light. To me it's one of her most revealing and dark album with bits of light popping up every other song. I mean, Side Effects, Thanks For Nothing, For The Record, Bye Bye and I Wish You Well are not what I would describe as lyrical joy. Einstein is a biting album and lots of people got bit. The cherry on the cake would've been if Eminem got his just desserts also with Obsessed being on the track list.

I thought she would consider surgery at this point, but it's evident the sycophants are running rampant in her circle. They're probably telling her that she sounds fabulous. Bro, she can barely get a note out. And her nonsense is getting irritating. Retirement is on the cards. Anyway, enough about Randy.

Some of you are so annoying.
The industry is in a discombobulated state right now. Newer artists Chance the Rapper and Megan Thee Stallion don't have a label. Ariana and Demi Lovato just left their management. Lady Gaga is doing her own thing away from the music industry. Drake is said to be retiring indefinitely. Rihanna is a lingerie and makeup mogul now.
That's the state of things right now. So its natural for Mariah to not be focused on new music other than Christmas.
I do want Mariah to release something in January/February, because that's the time her non-holidays catalog gets a boost. That's how Its A Wrap got viral and BER became a global hit. But that alone did much better than many contemporaries of her. Labels made no difference, why? Because 2023, labels don't move the needled as much as it use to.
These retirement guessing game is so obnoxious.
Mariah literally comes back every year during the holidays because she is big during the season. Any artists would kill to have that kind of career. I can name at least 10 artists who have big names and of high caliber who are doing nothing and they have labels, because they have to grind on stage for grueling tours because they get nothing but coins from the new music they make. Shawn Mendez doesn't seem to be that invested. And so is Justin Bieber. Some of these newer artists would kill to have a career Mariah has, 10-month vacation and 2 months of guaranteed smash. And you want Mariah to retire? Come on now.

I think the theme album she referred to last year has already been recorded, so that eventually will be released. She'll also release "Someone's Ugly Daughter", "The Rarities 2" and "Daydream 30". After that, she should officially retire.

4 hours behind me would put you somewhere around where the Titanic sank. Which is fitting. Check your figures. Plus I got Randy for my deep South. You'll have to come up with something new.

Bobby-A, I am rubbing off on you. And not in the way you might initially have hoped. That is the most frank and honest thing you have said. Freeing, isn't it?

We will know by the end of the Merry Christmas One and All shows where MC's career will be next year. There is a reason why she doesn't have a recording contract right now. MC knows why she doesn't have a recording contract. No one would have believed in 1997 that the greatest female singer in world would not have a recording contract in 2023. It's sad that she couldn't get a indie or Shanachie recording contract right now. No label executive wants to invest money in her with the current state of her voice. There is talk among label executives about MC's career. We are no longer in an extended break between albums. We are in an official undisclosed album hiatus right now.
