Wedding song up (99,727) by Littal from USA
A year ago I asked for suggestions on my wedding song, it's tomorrow and ended up choosing Mariah's [Lullaby of bird land] cover. I feel all the butterflies.

The other cool part, the owner of our Central American venue is named Moraya - pronounced Mariah.

Re: Sweetheart (99,723) (99,726) by Bill from the UK
I knew at the time it was a remake because my suspicious mind always enquires whenever I see that MC doesn't have a writing credit. Turns out my uncle knew and had the original version on 7" and let me have it. I do agree, for once, the original is better than Mariah's version. The original has a lot more bounce and sway to it, Mariah's version is very sluggish to my ear. I much prefer the No Rap version Matty, as JD has got to be the most annoying rapper on the planet. This is why I never listen to E=MC2 because he doesn't shut up throughout the whole record. I have expect the delicate intro of I Wish You Well to have a "y'all know who dis is" bleated over the top. (Caps) Shut Up (end caps).

Re: Sweetheart (99,720) (99,723) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
It's wild to me it's a remake. I didn't know either. I have an odd love yet absolutely hate relationship with the song. Is it the JD ad-libs I hate? Is it the budget video I hate? "We don't know" (Glitter reference). But as I just listened to the original, which I love, it's very Tom Tom Club (Genius of Love) vibe, the original makes me enjoy MC's Sweetheart more. I gotta say I enjoy Rainy Davis's execution and delivery much more then what she and JD delivered.

Sweetheart (99,720) by Lainsky from Philippines
I did not know that this song is also a remake until someone commented on my list of her best cover songs. Honestly, I could not believe it! I guess I am a fan who simply enjoy her songs without paying too attention on details. So, I made a research (yes, I did not read her memoirs) online and saw this.

Well, I love this song when it came out as well as the music video. Rearranging my list, this cover belongs to my top 5.

And when Robert-Anthony says he tweeted Mariah for that to happen, there's no way Mariah could have avoided listening to him. For Rob, a tweet means thousands upon thousands of tweets. When Rob wants his vinyls, Mariah'd better listen.

Re: #1's Record Store Day release (99,717) (99,718) by Edward from USA
Sometimes it's good when Mariah doesn't listen. I'd been asking for a remake of George Michael's "One More Try", and look that what happened, I wish it had never happened. "It's a Wrap" was also a missed opportunity at creating something memorable with Mary J. Blige, but it ended up being a left over "Wrap" on the MIAM album. I think some of these duets wouldn't work, especially with Beyonce, but a duet with Janet would definitely be good. I've always wished for them to sing "Again" together, it suits Mariah's current voice.

#1's Record Store Day release (99,716) by Bobby A from United States
Hey everybody. It was announced yesterday that #1's will be a part of Record Store Day on April 28th. I tweeted MC last year asking for a RSD release. She is listening to us. Tweet her.

Re: Whenever You Call mysteries (99,710) (99,715) by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
Clarence is a white girl, not a cat. Mariah used to stay together with her in a small apartment, together with Josefin, in late 80's and early 90's. It was in a period of before a record deal and after she got signed. That's Clarissa. Confused. Hehe. Clarence is a cat.

Clarence is Mariah's cat that she had since childhood. I remember she told this on TV or radio interview in the Netherlands. While recording WYC Clarence her cat was in the studio too.

Re: Mariah featured in NYTimes article about cheating (99,706) (99,707) by T from USA
Back in the mid '90s record labels were notorious for inflating sales numbers, even switching barcodes of other acts to the new release to raise it higher on sound scan. Columbia and Tommy were huge participants in this. Mariah debut twice at #1 for singles in the mid '90s so there is question of the legitimacy of these stats.

Re: Whenever You Call mysteries (99,697) (99,705) by Edward from USA
Robert-Anthony, I can't believe you haven't noticed Brian McKnight couldn't be in the studio with Mariah because Mariah didn't re-record her part of the song. They used the same vocals from her version on the Butterfly album. It was basically a cut and paste type of thing. It's so evident that I thought everybody knew.

Mariah featured in NYTimes article about cheating (99,704) by T from USA
The record industry is a dirty thing. This article from 1996 is quite interesting and talks about Sony and Mariah a lot throughout. So how do we really know how much an artist has really sold?

Re: MC16 and up tempo bangers (99,698) (99,703) by T from USA
I like the enthusiasm but we all have to remember that she made something special with Caution. Really fresh and cool. But it didn't see the light of day. Unless Mariah is going to have a Super Bowl type promo spot like Mary had, there is no point in trying to reinvent herself to be a mainstream act anymore. Think about it, Mary is everywhere on everyone's tongue but that is thanks to the Halftime show. I actually think Mariah's approach of concentrating on re-doing her old songs and focusing only on Christmas is her best bet. She can't fail there. Sure she will never be front and center in the mainstream but she will always find some success that way. Once we hear the remake of The Roof and Babydoll we won't even want for anything with the hottest new producers. We will be mesmerized by the old songs, redone.
