Ya that's my view too. And as crazy as it sounds people are now saying Mariah and Sabrina are competing for the song of the summer. It's crazy because who would have thought at this point in her career Mariah would be competing with the newest breakout star. Now don't get me wrong I'm not delusional, Sabrina is killing it on streaming and will probably end up winning by a large margin, because she has a huge label push behind her, her Spotify deal and huge fan base coming from Taylor Swift fans too. But it's so good to see MC still being talked about as a main competition and not just a legacy artist. I'm liking how gamma is handling her as a star and not a legacy artist. I think it's very ambitious to put it out in the world that she's coming for The Beatles' wigs (kidding hahah). So I am keeping hope that it'll be a good era.

Let's be patient. Maybe they are timing everything. Music drops last week/big radio push so the song can chart. Music video drops this week, which hopefully will make the song chart higher the following week. Video cameos including Mr beast, drops next week, which should push the video even higher. Who knows, it's just a guess, maybe maybe they are playing the long game, slow burner here. We have to remember that in today's musical landscape, younger audiences play the biggest part, and unless it's Christmas related, Mariah isn't just going to shoot to the top anymore on the charts. Let's see how everything goes, before we start speaking doom and gloom.

The video really feels like a combination of It's Like That, Boy, Breakdown and Get Your Number. It just ends too early. So now I know who this Mr. Beast is. Thanks to the webmaster and wiki. I would have preferred Mr. Bean. Lol. But seriously this YouTuber is for the kindergarten out there. He looks strange with his vest. The video also looks a bit like a commercial for perfume with all the male models. But compared to "I don't" it's pure art.

Plus the song is super catchy, just too short. Overall it's way better than the last ones.

Thank you for the nice words and nice to see you posting again Dove. Great to see a number of OGs come back like T-Dang created some sort of seance or something.

As for the video... eh. Have we really got to the point where we're suggesting they should use AI to animate Mariah? With her vocals likely being incredibly souped up as well what would be left of the Mariah of 1990? Come on. Yes she looks flawless but I stand by my lamentation from a few weeks back that something is really not right with her if she is unable to move anymore.

If she came to us and said "hey lambs, I'm suffering with [insert neurological disorder] and have been since 2008" then we'd all be applauding her efforts to keep herself out there and current rather than scratching our heads.

Like everyone else I have no idea who Mr Beast is. Were the other men in the video famous too? I've not really paid attention to the mainstream since like 2005 so I've no idea who anyone is. I thought Dua Lipa was that language app with the psychotic owl.

I know her team and Gamma have a plan and I trust that they have the success for MC16 already worked out. I am going to let this new era unfold as it happens. Great things are on the way for MC. MC is not the only legacy artist who doesn't chart on the Hot 100 like they used to. OMG was Usher's last number #1 in 2009 and Scream was his last top 10 hit in 2012. Good Good from his current album on Gamma only got as high as #25 on the Hot 100.

I am starting to come around now too. Hopefully, Type Dangerous will continue to rise on the Hot 100. I need to stop trying to be MC's manager and just be a Lamb. I only want the best for MC. My criticism comes from love and admiration for MC. Anyway, One Heart One Voice arrives in 14 days. Maybe that will be the spark and flame for this era.

If the reason why they get to him is to gain viewers from his 450 million subscribers, then the mission is failed, so far. He never post or repost it. I visit his channel and yes it is true that all his videos have high views, his latest video has 70 million views in just 7 days.

Ok after watching the video about a hundred times, I'm really loving it. It's visually stunning, she looks beautiful and if you're a lamb and get the references, it's hilarious. If this Mr. Beast is really that popular and will get the GP to watch the video just for that, after a while, the song will catch on. It has that summer vibe to it. Idk if it's because I'm a fan and I'll pretty much support any song she drops, but the song is extremely catchy. It won't stop playing in my head lol.

I watched the video, excited to finally find out the surprise. I finished the video and asked myself, did I miss something? Where was the big reveal? I find out it's some guy named MrBeast. Who? With two teenagers in my house, I'd like to think I've done pretty good at keeping up with current trends, popular public figures, etc. I'm glad I'm not the only one that was a bit let down at the surprise. Not nice to pop my balloon that way. That said, it's definitely a huge improvement from Mariah prancing around in a swimsuit or half naked, covering herself with a hat, I don't want to see her laying all over some dude in a car. I thought the storyline was funny, add her adlibs, and references to "I don't know him (her)", and Bianca was funny. Definitely a huge, huge improvement from past videos.

Fun video but I expected a little more. Too short for a storyline to develop. And all that hype and delay made it worse. TOTC has changed its original chart prediction to #94. I'm happy she's charting at least after no Caution singles charted.

1. Because she wants chart success and they control the charts, not us.

2. I think she also likes to remain "current" and "contemporary". Doesn't always translate well though with the audience. If any of the younger artists released TD it'd shoot straight to the top.

3. Part of her whole "eternally 12" shtick.

I still can't believe she's done a grown ass ballad with Barbra. So intrigued to hear how she sounds there with her current voice. That even next to Barbra and Ariana.

Who is Mr. Beast? I think the only time I've heard about him was when BJ Investigates/That Surprise Witness talked about him on her YT channel and it wasn't good stuff. I think a Bianca cameo would have been a better surprise than him.

I used to come on here a looong time ago and I still think about you guys sometimes. No one posted their pictures back then so I had my own mental image of what everyone looked like. Bill was one of my favorites, but in my mind he looked like the dad from Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. So when I saw that handsome face I was just super surprised. If I was still young enough to have kids, I would totally have a kid for you Bill. Smart, funny, kind, and handsome? That’s rare.

Finally got to watch the video, watched it twice. So, my complete honesty, the video was alright. For a Mariah video, it was better than expected but I can't say it was worth the wait. I did enjoy it but tbh I was more excited when Victoria Monet dropped the vid for Alright, and I barely know her music. As someone already mentioned, it felt more nostalgic with the rehash visuals of ILT, TGIFY remix, Breakdown, ISIL, The Roof and With You. And a hint of Britney's Toxic. I felt like too much was going on in the video. Maybe it'll grow on me. I've heard the name Mr. Beast many times but still don't know anything about him. I don't know him but from what I'm seeing in reaction videos, they're going crazy when they see him pop up in the video, apparently he's that famous and someone in the comments mentioned he has over 400 million followers which might actually translate better for exposure. I have a feeling there will be a remix and video dropping very soon. I was hoping for a Cardi or Glo remix but I think it'll just be Rakim, but we'll see.

His name is James Packer. It is hard to believe he was her ex-finance once upon a time. The video pointed out that MC really doesn't have a type. I guess that is the parody. MC has been married or dated all types of men not necessarily a dangerous type of man. Derek Jeter will always be her first true love. He has more songs written about him than any of her other men. Her fame and really wanting to be Mrs. Derek Jeter pushed Derek away from MC.

I think you have to be on some serious drugs to impute any storyline development to this video. I see nothing earth shattering after waiting 7 years for something, anything. Closing by saying "I don't know him" is basically a reference from 25 years ago, I thought this was supposed to be a "new era"? This feels recycled and nostalgic more than "new". Not worth the wait, very disappointing. I hope (but doubt) there's an actual "WBT" moment on the album, otherwise, this "era" is a wrap.

Music video (109,323) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

So I watched it twice. My thoughts and 2 cents.
- The video seems to be a mix between ILT, Boy and Slave For You.
- I think Mariah looked absolutely stunning in every shot, my favourite being her "Britney" look with the black smokey eyes and the Mr. Beast scene where she looked like she's straight out of TEOM era. I love the risks she took with her looks including the red lip. She looked stunning in the silver bedazzled look to but that's her usual look.
- I thought JK said the video was longer than we think? But it wasn't. Or did he mean that we'll keep pausing on the boys haha.
- First high budget video after a while but I think it lacked a strong storyline or I missed it. I like the different "acts" being different men but I wish there was some context and dialogues like Honey/Heartbreaker. The CGI was a bit too much for me especially the diamond one in the first act lol. I was hoping for something more like "Boy is mine" video from Ariana.
- I heard there are more cameos other than Mr Beast. Which is smart to introduce her to new audience. I hope their contracts have requirements for them to post over the next few days. I'm dead at the "I don't know him".
- Why were the all laying on the floor in pain?
- Why was she so stiff in the first act? I get being nervous on stage but she literally had full control here.
