Mariah having fun (88,076) by Edouard from France
I'm glad to see Mariah adlibing and having fun with her songs again instead of trying to duplicate what she did in the studio when she first recorded her songs. What I've always loved about Mariah is her ability to change up her songs, lowering and highering (in that a verb?) the notes so that she's comfortable while never failing to give us new vocal moments. It's easier for her that way but it's also more creative. if I wanna hear the CD, I listen to the CD, you know what I mean? Love that woman.

Re: Article: Mariah Carey's "I Don't" joins Hot 100 at #89 (88,060) (88,075) by B from USA
The controversy surrounding Mariah's NYE snafu and Mariah's World is why I Don't charted.

Re: Article: 5 Songs by Mariah Carey that should've hit #1 (88,068) (88,074) by B from USA
Making Mariah the first female artist to occupy the #1 and #2 spots on the Hot 100 simultaneously, a record she will always hold. Just like she'll always be the first female artist to debut a song at #1 on the Hot 100.

Thanks for the clarification. Someone tweeted it and in the tweet said it was a recent performance.

I agree with #Beautiful and Butterfly. However, I'd include Breakdown, Can't Let Go (which would've been Mariah's sixth consecutive #1 if Sony hadn't pulled the single in attempt to boost sales of Emotions), and I Still Believe. When You Believe deserved to be a #1 on the Hot 100 for the simple fact that it was a miracle that Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston collaborated on a record.

WYB and Butterfly, yes. I remember when Honey debuted #1 and then the video of Butterfly was released. I told myself that it will be her next song to hit the top spot of Billboard Hot 100. Only to find out in my big disappointment that they have changed the rule. Unreleased single commercially was not eligible to chart. What a blow back then. The same feeling went to Breakdown in which I believe could have been another No.1 hit. That was the time I started to think that there were people out there who would do anything to stop Mariah from breaking the Beatles record. Remember the controversies when she beat Elvis Presley? Anyway, I did not mind if the rest of this list has failed because they were just okay for me. However, to add my own list, Sweetheart, Lead The Way (which is impossible due to Glitter fiasco), Shake It Off, For The Record and Cruise Control, Standing O (which were all wrongly ended up as album tracks but huge potential commercially), and of course, Caution (hopefully).

I honestly do hope it's old and not current. I haven't searched for any of the newer dates to know.

Shake It Off got beaten to the #1 spot because We Belong Together was still in that position.

Re: Migrate (88,056) (88,067) by IheartMC from USA
Hilarious post. I can't imagine anyone pulling off this song with their personality. Imagine Beyonce trying to pull of a Migrate? She would look insane and out of touch? Among other gems. Mariah really is unique and one of a kind. All hail the queen. No apologies to the other fan bases. Sorry our diva just has to write and sing her face off. The others have to work extra hard to be noticed because Mariah's talent is loud with just music alone.

Great point Chops. Infinity also had the support of the new greatest hits compilation, the brand new Vegas show, and a music video paid for with a Match.com sponsorship. I Don't's video, as trashy as it was, got people talking. I had people who don't really follow Mariah tell me they watch the music video for the wedding dress being burned scene because it was so outrageous that she would burn a $500k dress in a fire pit (as it was framed in the media). There's been no scandal surrounding Caution, and poeple love to see Mimi in the depths of drama.

For me Through The Rain, Loverboy, Never Too Far join this list as well as Underneath The Stars, Butterfly, Can't Let Go, Endless Love, Never Forget You, Can't Take That Away and Anytime You Need A Friend.

That technique can't be healthy for one's vocal chords.

It could of been less competition at the time, so it may have sparked some more interest with the general public.

What makes you think that? Sony is continuing to promote With You and they're releasing A No No in March.

I have also wondered how I Don't and Infinity charted, yet GTFO nothing. The quaintly of all Cautions tracks are head and shoulders about either I Don't or Infinity. How?

Speaking of remixes I'm surprised that we haven't gotten any with Caution thus far. I always thought GTFO was ripe for dance remixes.

If one of the new trendy singers covers it, it could easily reach #1.
