Sounds like you're giving excuses for her. "She's not really a regular singer." Well then she needs to be a regular singer, if regular means being disciplined, getting training all over again, getting a voice coach that understands her situation (and preferably also a voice therapist in tow) and knows exactly what to do and how to go about it, having some form of a routine mapped out for her and seeing where it goes, because having this attitude and being a half assed singer without knowing the tricks of the trade is what put her in this problem to begin with. It is quite sad to see how much singing ability she has lost, literally everything. And then she keeps touring (with which voice exactly?). D'you know how grueling touring is on a normal voice that doesn't have nodules, talk less of one like hers that does - the reason why every time she toured it affected her voice negatively. For someone who's shows are all about the voice, she sure shouldn't be giving any performances on any stage whatsoever with how shot her voice is currently (call it as it is, we can all hear it). Standing there giving absolutely nothing on stage and thinking the audience would not notice? I am a true fan/Lamb or whatever you wanna call it, and Mariah has been getting on my nerves lately, I scroll right past any posts about her concerts, because I already know what to expect. How much more those who paid money to see her in person. She will soon be booed off that stage, then maybe finally jolt back to reality and seek professional help.

I want to throw a jab, but that list is actually so funny LMAO. Why is everyone so unserious here? On all seriousness though, you can taper it down to Mariah just having a handicapped voice plus overworking.
She's not really a regular singer, think of her process in masterclass where she hums and leads the band until they get it right, that then doing the production, vocal arrangements, tripling background vocals, staying up until 7 in the morning with the audio engineer. All that, times a million songs.
But yeah I almost resented Mariah for never ever sounding like 96 Tokyo Dome live. But then I think about how her voice is literally heaven sent. It's like you will have the most beautiful voice ever but the trade is, you'll have nodules and it'll be super fragile, but you'll be gifted artistically though. Like everyone will be left in the dust.
To simplify it. A regular singer would be training vocally for 2 hours. Mariah would meet with the band and write chord progressions for hours, humming - overworking her voice. Lead the producers to get things right - with her voice. Then hit up the background singers and arrange some adlibs. Again through her voice. Then keep editing and trying until her handicapped voice is worn out. That would be 10 or more hours.
She did that since 84, that's more than 40 years of just giving it your all. Driven by the fear of being poor again and disappointing her fans and the label.
The inevitable result is her voice being shot. She really did the best with what she got. Everyone needs to be grateful and give her, her well deserved flowers.

Reading this messageboard - I wouldn't count on that. If someone would make a list of haters and suck ups of others, 80% of us would fail to hold "think-we-all-just-want-for-her-to-be-physically-and-emotionally-well" club card.

Ok so it's 1994 Music Box is on top of the charts. Mariah is everywhere, America's sweetheart. She can do no wrong and you love everything she does. Then [you're] involved in an accident which puts you in a coma until2017. The last video you saw before your accident was Anytime You Need A Friend. When you awake, I Don't video is playing on the hospital TV. What is your reaction? Answers on a postcard.

Well, I saw Tucker Wetmore perform on Jimmy Kimmel this month. I am so impressed with his great vocals and rapid singing style especially on his song Brunette that I am making Tucker Wetmore my favorite artist now. This is at least until MC16 is released. MC is just number #2 now. Lol. Tucker is the real deal with his catchy country songs that have made for a brilliant debut and changed country radio in 2025.

by Bobby A from United States

It is going to be released on the same day as her new album. It looks like she is going to drop the single with the album just like she did with the first Partners album. I guess Coulumbia is trying to drive album sales for a hot summer release. Pop singles from older artists on the Hot 100 typically don't do well on the chart nowadays. The Adult or Hot AC is another story.

Ugh the Precious interviews by Mariah were so cringe because all she kept talking about was how Lee made her ugly as if we don't understand character transformations. She was so focused on making people understand that it's not just her without makeup and that they had to do a lot to make her look that way. Like Mariah girl we've seen your flawless face without makeup we know it's not like that character. She was playing such a pivotal role in the movie and all she talked about was her look and how painful it was.

I have to disagree. Going back in the fridge after Christmas has stopped her ageing process. She's the new Cher, even if she has to go on stage, sit on a throne chair, pop her CDs in and waves herself through her concerts like the true diva she is. Even her "dahlings" and "do you like the ensemble?" will be lipped because it would prevent wrinkles around her mouth. Lee Daniels forced overhead lighting on her during the filming of "Precious" and she ended up with a mustache. I personally use it when I want to grow my beard. She knows what she's doing.

Personally, I wouldn't blame her for not rushing new music out. It wasn't like you bought her last albums, or anything that Madonna or Babs put out in the last decade. Hall of Famers are literally struggling to sell new music. Up and comers are struggling as well.

When Madonna turned 40 she produced 8 albums, including some of her best work such as Ray of Life, Confessions on a Dance Floor.
When Streisand turned 40, she produced 15 albums, and a bunch of films, many of which she herself produced, directed and starred in.
When Mariah turned 40, she produced 3 albums. Nuff said. So yes, Mariah has been creatively bankrupt, with a few creative output here and there. It's all been facade from her since she turned 40, and that's 15 years ago.

I disagree that she's creatively and artisticly bankrupt. I do think she's bored out of her mind and that she's allowed herself to believe her own pr.
Someone like Mariah doesn't run out creativity; they mostly run out of steam and hunger for what they initially wanted from their career. You don't write, produce, and arrange all of those #1 albums and singles and suddenly run out of artistry. You tire of it. Her heart hasn't been in it for a while now.
I also think artists that reach the pinnacle of success she has (much like MJ, Madonna, Elvis, etc.) will at a certain point rehash their glory days thinking it'll stay current forever.
I think she could find the spark again if actually wanted to. Idk what would get her interest again, but of all the artists of her caliber, she's always been the most versatile and capable of making it happen.

Yes and it's ridiculous "avoiding wrinkles". There is no avoiding with nature. A healthy lifestyle is good, luck with the genes and that's it. And people who age relaxed are the best. They have the best charisma. To be fit and healthy (as good as it's possible) should be the goal.
