Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (108,215) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
Lee, it is hypocrisy out of context if common sense and fairness were the template but unfortunately not in context. There are certain heights within all industries (music, film, tv etc) where "paying your dues" goes beyond payola. Mariah is never gonna do either of those things. She's by no means a saint, self-appointed or otherwise, but she's not gonna be celebrated to the extreme extent that some of her and though it may not seem so, outta actually a blessing.

I don't know another superstar as denigrated, maligned, sabotaged and back-bitten by her collaborators as Mariah. They take her choice of not fighting dirty as blood in the water. The ones who get the industry accolades for sneezing in spring are also the ones who are seen as sharks. Mariah is a dolphin at most in these circles, she doesn't inspire fear, nor should she. I pray she never joins the ranks of most awarded by industry insiders. Leave that to the coalition of the willing who need not be named to be understood as the apex predators who we all know and some of you love. We love the AMA's and all the international fan-based awards though. My 2025¢.

Mariah living out the Butterfly lyrics in reverse? (108,214) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
Well, that was a rhetorical question because I actually believe that she is living out the Butterfly lyrics in real time, but in reverse (maybe even the whole album, at this point). I remember in my Jr High days (might have been 7th grade), we buried stuff, letters mostly, for my class. It was for a "time capsule" or whatever and it feels like even though Mariah wrote that album pretty much in real time back then in '96-'97- that "time capsule" got unearthed and now the whole album feels like something she could release today and not miss a beat. I've had this feeling for a while. Anyway, sending my to all. May love conquer all, always.

I hope that too, but Joe Cocker, Cyndi Lauper and Billy Idol will give her some competition. And let's not forget Oasis (the big reunion this year) and Soundgarden. There's even more big acts on that list. Fingers crossed.

I voted and I asked my Facebook to vote and my gay Facebook group to vote. I guess I am a Stan. I think I'm pissed that all of her peers (Whitney, Janet, Madonna and Mary) are in and she's not. Down the road if Celine gets in before MC, it would mean some things about the industry's feelings about her that a lot of us aren't willing to face.

Let's all come together and vote for Mariah to get into the [Rock and Roll Hall of Fame]. That would be something great we could do for Mariah, she has earned it.

Mariah's '90s background singers were on another level. Their voices were so powerful and soulful, and they blended perfectly with Mariah's strong, unique tone. Trey wasn't really in that league, those ladies could blow. Being realistic, Mariah wouldn't be able to keep up with that kind of vocal power behind here these days. She really needs to get her voice back in shape first. And funny enough, she even lips part of her duet with Trey, go figure.

I've just had to do a long drive and I listened to Proctors Theatre Concert and it got me thinking. Whilst I know it won't change Mariah's current vocals I was thinking she needs an overhaul of backing singers, a sound more reminiscent of the [Price Sisters]. Singers that have more soul and depth to warm up her songs on stage. Trey isn't as good as he used to be so he's not gonna help Mariah sound any better. Even on her next album she should use vocalists that can add texture to her songs, use the background singers like they used too and get them more involved in the over all sound. I think this would enhance the quality of the album and give Mariah's vocals a boost. It worked on Music Box why not give it another go, good quality tracks reflective of her early career, filled with gospel and soulful sounds. She has nothing to loose at this point. Lay the Diva MC to bed and awaken Mariah again.

This is awesome news. The stars in the sky are aligning in MC's favor this year with a second nomination. Great things are still coming this year. I just know that it is all about timing, vocal rest, and grand collaborations.

Mariah doesn't need no man (108,201) by Bobby A from United States
I just wonder if Usher can help MC with a special summer duet produced by JD and BMC. Their collaboration could be filmed and have a big budget video for a huge summer hit. He does seem to bounce back very quickly after personal relationship setbacks. Plus, he has never had any major vocal issues during his career. I know MC admires his work ethic and music.

Tanaka and our other Mimi (108,200) by Bobby A from United States
Tanaka did provide a sense of guidance for her performances and personal life. It was like he was the rock she could lean on to guide her on a daily basis and tell her no to some business ventures or performances.

Also, Mimi we miss your sound and beautifully written analysis on the board. Where are you? I pray all is well in your world. We would love to read your comments about MC's Vegas shows and MC16.

MC must want to get her voice back at least to 2005-2008 eras. It is going take 6 months of no performances.

Mariah doesn't need no man (108,198) by jaker20 from US
Mariah doesn't need a man but she needs someone. With Tanaka and her mom gone, and estranged families, she's alone. She's been better when she's with someone, than alone. I think her calling all the shots in late 90s led to her breakdown. She's carrying a music empire and legacy, and no one person can carry that without taking its toll. Sadly, Mariah is not a very disciplined person. Whether it's being active, food, mental and physical health, getting inspired, she's doing best when someone is pushing her. Now she's just surrounded by people who push her for their own benefits. She needs people who push her because they're real partners and they're real.

I wonder if reconnecting with Walter A would be good for her. They inspire each other, and they make a great team. Their creative juices flow is organic. It's non-romantic, which sometimes is the best partner in life, keeps her inspire and her mind active. And at her age, that is hard to find. Bless her.

I agree. That's why she needed someone, I don't know, a man, a partner, a strict manager, etc.

Beyonce has JayZ, for all his imperfections, she's got a musical and business partner, and they're in it together. Taylor has her parents who are expect business people. Mariah is literally alone, and being a single mother of 2 is no joke. And then surrounded by yes people, and they all want their rents paid for, but little about Mariah's well-being. Bless her.

I don't think it's just Tanaka. If anything, I think Tanaka was a casualty of Mariah's changed health, either mental or physical, or both.

I would say the obvious sharp decline was early 2021. If you watch MC's Magical Christmas Special, which was Christmas of 2020, she was still very animated and seem to be in on the actual production. And then just a few months later, it was a sharp decline. It was noticeable on the walk and how she talks. A lot of lambs were in denial since then. I'm one of them.

Someone here posted back then that Mariah might have had a serious health scare, but just was not reported. I don't think so. But after the reports of Celine last year, Jamie Foxx, Brian May, and others post covid era, I think Mariah should focus on her and get herself cared for, because she's only got herself now. She was never as active like Madonna or Janet and that eventually will show in middle age.

Sometimes I wish she's still with Tanaka though. With all of his imperfections, he seemed to make her happy. Bless her.

Mariah Carey fans wonder if singer is "OK" (108,195) by jaker20 from US
Yeah, sadly its starting to go mainstreame. I don't even understand why she's in Vegas again but without any new material. Is she short on cash?

She is giving zero effort, and honestly if she doesn't get it together, it's going to lead to brain rot, if she isn't there already. Madonna and Janet are still extremely active.

Forget albums, Mariah can't even walk anymore by herself.

Mariah's lipping is so obvious now, and people are going in on her in the YouTube comments. She really needs to step back from touring and work with a vocal coach. Like Terna said, it's going to take serious discipline to get her voice back in shape. She should stop touring until Christmas.

It kind of feels like we're watching a different version of what happened with Whitney. Mariah fought so hard to stay true to herself, but now she's almost trapped in this diva persona. She used to talk about wanting the street cred that Mary J. Blige had, she started being raw and unapologetic. But now? It's like she's just withdrawn into this shell.

It's true that Tanaka seemed to have been a source of joy and normalcy in her life.

Mariah doesn't need no man (108,192) by Anonymous from United States
I've been very worried about Mariah for quite some time - her psychological and physical health. I think she's been very isolated since 2013/14 and has been on "autopilot" with residencies and Christmas tours to just "keep things moving". Maybe I'm projecting my own experiences onto Mariah, but I can attest to how taxing it can be on the body/spirit when you go for long periods of time without feeling physically/psychologically safe and without having anyone to talk to or rely upon. I've been in that space for a while now and have come in and out of it through my life. In a way, Mariah has always been very isolated but not having a close "safe" partner or friends who are not on the payroll alongside the stuff with her voice is a lot to deal with.
