Re: My All (100,957) (100,958) by Stacey from USA Ok well I finally got this song out of my head, it had been living there for awhile, and now it's back, lol. Thanks a lot. I agree. This song is one of her best ballads. It proves that sometimes less is more. I'm not talking about vocals, but overall production. It's just her, the guitar, and some percussion. My All (100,957) by Bill from the UK Every so often I am struck with how beautiful this song is. The gentle guitar, the subdued percussion, the ethereal lyrics and imagery, and of course Mariah's gorgeous vocals. So tentative, yet so intense at the same time. The song is so simple, but completely unforgettable. I was on my balcony in this glorious heatwave, as the day was cooling off. Headphones on, this track on repeat. I was watching Jimmy Fallon, and Madonna is now claiming to have sold 400 million. These claims kept going up during the last 10 years when sales are basically dead. I feel like many acts are scrambling to secure their spots because sales are over, so they are now grossly inflating numbers. Meanwhile, Mariah is the only artist who can justify actual claims because she actually have a classic that literally sells annually. (Thursday 11 August 2022; 19:51)

(100,955) by Bobby A from United States I tweeted MC, Usher, and JD today that the time is now for an official Mariah and Usher original duet that is a slow jam type of love song. MC has never truly had a duet like Michael Jackson's I Just Can't Stop Loving You. This is the right time for MC and Usher to truly sing a duet that would capture radio's attention. So true and that was too much even for her. It would be for every human. What she has reached and experienced before 30 is unbelievable. Only Elvis, The Beatles, Michael and Whitney have had "similar" experiences I guess. I never judge her, I just want her to be happy and healthy. Musically she has reached everything and beyond, but to know she is really happy and taking care of herself would be something I wish from my deepest heart. So many of the greatest were so sad. But a few can be superstars while still grounded and relaxed after all and enjoy it. I just hope that Mariah is happy. (Thursday 11 August 2022; 10:39)

Still here (100,953) by Randy from USA With Whitney's birthday yesterday and Olivia's passing, I just celebrate MC for being here. Prince, MJ, Whitney are all gone. So even though Madonna is still popping out her breast at 60 and has a 28 yo boyfriend, I celebrate Madonna. Even though Janet Jackson had a baby at an AARP convention and her face is pulled up into her ponytails, I celebrate Janet. Even though MC acts like Anna Nicole Smith and dresses like Jessica Rabbit, I celebrate MC. One thing that hit me recently, Beyoncé was 20 when that ugly Destiny's Child breakup happened. At 20 I was still throwing up in bar parking lots and having sex for a ride home. MC had 8 albums, an ugly marriage and all the pressure that comes with fame and money before she turned 30. Giving up alcohol would greatly help with the severity of her psychiatric diagnosis and would also considerably cut the amount of residual sugar she is consuming. Alcohol use is generally discouraged for people with a BP diagnosis, and it surely cannot help to mix it with whatever medication she is taking. (Monday 8 August 2022; 19:15)

In April right before the Masterclass she seemed to be in great shape sitting in the pool in that skin tight red dress. She hinted towards a project coming out at the end of April (possibly the Butterfly Room). I think something happened that put a stop to her releasing the project. Something beyond her control. I think she spiraled into depression and indulged in stress eating, especially if the powers that be put a stop to the release of her new project. I hope she takes care of herself. "Higher Love" with Whitney became a big hit all over Europe, and the remix of Tina's "What's Love Got To Do With It" wasn't as big as Higher Love but it introduced Tina to a new generation. The same would happen to Mariah. Which song would you like to be remixed in that way? Now that some of Mariah's songs are being used in soundtracks, like "Love Takes Time" and "Anytime You Need A Friend" in Pose, or "Fantasy" in Free Guy, I hope some of her greatest songs in her catalogue are used for soundtracks in series or movies. Just look at Kate Bush and her worldwide success almost 40 years later with "Running Up That Hill", just for being included in Stranger Things. I wish the general audience would know Maria's songs other than Hero or AIWFCIY, which seems to be the only one she puts all of her efforts in promoting, and most people only know that song of hers. And also I don't like all the memes of "Mariah Carey is defrosting" when the "ber" months come. It's like Mariah is only being known nowadays for that song. (Monday 8 August 2022; 10:25)

But considering she performed with her and paid tribute to her in 2008, it's not as striking as not naming Mariah. Maybe it was Madonna or her team who didn't want Maria's name to be included. Maybe it has nothing to do with that, who knows. I would like a Beyoncé - Mariah collaboration. And I totally agree with your thought about the cultural apropiation of the underground ballroom culture. But it's also good that she is naming all of the legendary houses like "House of Extravaganza", "House of Ninja" etc that appear in the legendary "Paris is Burning" documentary. By the way as much as I love "Vogue", if you listen to "Deep In Vogue" by Malcom McLaren featuring Willy Ninja, which is prior to Madonna's "Vogue", they sound almost the same.
