Nick a no no (98,719)
by Nikki from usa
| |
|
|
You don't buy things for the kids behind the parent's back. That's not cool. Especially, since Nick only sees his kids 6 times a year. Nick didn't have 5 kids when Roc and Roe were 8. Nick seems to be confusing time frames. That seems like a more recent conversation. He's up to 7 now.
All of that is neither here nor there because kids tend to spend too much time on their phones instead of interreacting with other humans. I can understand MC not wanting her kids dependent on electronics when they already have some. That can add another danger she may not be able to monitor. These are celebrity children. Mariah's the one caring for them most of the time. It also makes me wonder how hands on Nick is when he's with them or if he distracts them with gadgets, so they don't bother him.

Adele (98,718)

Well, Taylor Swift moved her album release to a week earlier because of Adele's new album which is rumored to come out on November 19. Not sure what surprises Mariah has planned, but hopefully they are on hold until a week or 2 before Christmas so the general public doesn't over look them.

Exactly, it's not the phone itself, that's inevitable in this age. Regular parents will have the talk with their kids about sex, race, etc. Mimi may not want to deal with the celebrity issue, but that is inevitable. Get ahead of it anyway, phone or no phone.

They've been on the web for years, have iPad's and Roc has even schooled fans in the past about their comments. The issue is parenting and having parameters on those devices. Kids even use tablets for school. After watching the segment, both she and Nick were probably joking. But the kids accessing the web is inevitable. What they discover about her is mostly up to her going forward. Her past is out of her control. Both parents seem to have established a foundation of love and trust with their parents. They will both have to give talks with them about celebrity culture, gossip, etc.

I was 15 or 16 when I got my first cell phone. Back at the late 90ies. Lol that big, black Nokia one. And luckily there was no Google on it. I understand that Mariah doesn't want cell phones for her kids. But I think all the other kids will show them Google and so on.

How any parent would be happy having a 10 year old access the Internet and, especially, the toxic social media platforms is beyond me. Completely understand why Mariah is annoyed about this. They are far too young to be exposed to all that.

Mimi is also immature (98,711)
by RibbonB from USA

I refuse to read such a long post at the moment. By these are the parents they have. Mimi centers those kids around her needs and emotions. She also thought nothing of allowing Doc yo suck on a binky with a full mouth of teeth and him walking and talking. And she joked about Nick disapproving. They were even still married then, I believe. The phone thing isn't even about phoebes, it's about parenting your kids and how about living in the manner you want them to respect, not preventing "googlation". But have fun writing out your examples because he has a whole tv show to display his humor. Not bad from the shirt binge I was able to do online. I love the three kids singing on his show theme song.

Exhibit A: Nick is immature (98,710)
by Geronimo from USA

This Yahoo article shows the difference between a committed adult and someone who seems to over-identify with celebrity identity. I'm sure Nick is a super nice guy but he constantly makes comments in public that should almost certainly have remained at least semi-private. He often drags other people's private lives into an anonymous, public space where private matters do not belong.
Even though I think children should only possess technology at the pleasure of their parents, 1) Nick should have let that remain a conversation between two parents, 2) he should not want to announce to the world that his children now have access to social media against their mother's wishes, and 3) if it is the case that Mariah Carey is the kind of parent whose children need to communicate with outsiders without their mothers knowledge and/or consent at the age of 10, then that is also a very delicate and unfortunate situation completely unsuitable for public entertainment. Maybe he actually does forget that no matter how seriously he takes himself, he is only in public for entertainment purposes.
Mariah, on the other hand, has always gotten some flack because she (generally) sticks to her media persona and doesn't pretend the public should take her seriously on other subjects often. She's finally showing that she has a basic grasp on the complications of being an Afro-American woman who has a stake in what happens to other Afro-American men and women. She thinks poverty and hopelessness are bad things. She thinks everyone should be nice or leave.
Mariah knows that it's best for her to focus primarily on being an entertainer as far as communicating with the public is concerned. For all kinds of reasons I can see why that makes sense for her to do. I think she and Nick are very similar in the sense that it would be best if they both did as Mariah typically does.

Marriage (98,709)
by RibbonB from USA
| |
|

Ok, I will take bait and add this tidbit. I didn't watch Nick's new show, but read this story about him giving their kids phones. This story is hilarious to me, especially the part about Mimi worrying, jokingly or not, about the twins googling their parents. I mean, the stories and gossip they have to look forward to and that Mimi should be concerned about us vast. As far as any potential new marriages, she would be a fool dummy to do so just look at Kelly Clarkson and Mary J. Blige recent payouts. Hopefully Mimi has the dancer's employment papers airtight, or she will be in paying palimony territory when she is done with him.
But back to the kids, is she sure they haven't googled them on their little iPad's already? I can't wait till they get to the Stellar stories. Skso, from the article, Mimi knows the babies are their brothers and new sister. They've already met Golden and Powerful based on pictures that have been posted.

To bad your [sic] dead wrong. Tanaka and Mariah are still together. He was right by her side filming the Christmas special the last two weeks. You will see the projects they've been working on soon. Don't be surprised when it comes out that they're married already.

Yup, I think he's a very happy man. What parents expect is another thing, but he should live his life like he wants. And I believe that's what he exactly does.

I think the man is way happier than if he was working a 9-5 to support his wife and kids and their weekly trips to Denny's.
More power to him for having the courage to not just blindly follow pack expectations and live his own life.

I'm glad we see things from a different perspective. You see this is exactly what I love about Mariah and her catalogue, there's something there for everyone - testament to her mass appeal and we all interpret these records and eras differently.

Tanaka and MC (98,703)
by Bobby A from United States

I really feel Tanaka and MC are not together anymore. A man who wants to get married and have kids will not stick around regardless of any money. I am really sure he is hearing from mother: "When are you getting married?" "When are you going to give me some grand kids?" On another note, what is up with MC liking Khalid's Instagram and Twitter pages. Stay tuned for Fall In Love At Christmas. Khalid is looking amazing these days compared to 4 years ago.

Jazzy MC (98,702)

I was driving home from work and thought about MC sampling Forget Me Nots by Patrice Rushen. I envisioned a jazzy uptempo number reminisce of Fantasy with horns and a marching band sound. She could pull it off with her gorgeous tone. DJ Camper could co-produce it with the The Dream, Tricky Stewart, and Angela Winbush.

Fun article (98,701)

Not sure if anyone has posted about this before, but www.stereogum.com is doing a column called "The Number Ones". The author writes an in-depth article on every number one song of the Hot 100 era. He recently (finally) got to 1990 and Vision of Love and I really enjoyed reading it! Needless to say Mariah will be featured as he says, "so many more times". I look forward to the next 18 write-ups over the next few years as he gets through the 90's and 2000's and eventually to 2019. Check it out.

Emotions is really "pure gold". Yesterday I needed comfort through music, so I played her debut, "Emotions" and "Music box". The magic of songs like "Vanishing", "Can't let go", "So blessed", "Til the end of time", "The wind", "AYNAF", "All I ever wanted" and "EFA" are unmatched until today.
