Re: Mariah sang on Eminem's "Superman" (98,516) (98,519)

Not quite what you think. Mariah and Eminem had agreed to work on a track together. When neither of their managers could find a single day they both had off at the same time to really work on a track together, Mariah bounced. Mariah had been working on Glitter and a producer team called Klark Kent Productions. I'm not spelling it right. They worked on several Glitter tracks. They had an ongoing joke calling Mariah "super girl" because she'd get changed on flights with new makeup and look different when she emerged. Instead of phone booths it was a plane. Eminem got butt hurt when she didn't get back to him, so he re-worked the song. It was supposed to be a reference to the 80's. He kept the song, dissed her, along with the entire album. He promoted the album by claiming they were dating. Then, promoted his own soundtrack movie chism by claiming they hooked up.

Bye Bye (98,518)

Listening to Bye Bye because of The Clark Sisters news today. Does it have elements of gospel? What other pop songs by MC have elements of gospel? When I Saw You sounds like a song out of a church hymn book.

According to Dorinda Clark-Cole, she and her sisters had a strenuous week recording with MC. MC wore them out in the studio with recording the song. Lol.

Listening back to it now (his parts) he definitely changed the lyrics after Mariah worked on it. He definitely threw in some jabs at her after the fact. I wonder what the original song sounded like. There's the link to the highlights of the interview. The Mariah and song Superman start at 1:30.

So singer Dina Rae, who is the vocalist on Eminem's song Superman, confirmed that Mariah was the original vocalist. We all used to think that this was a Mariah diss track but it was some sort of meta moment I guess. The singer Dina says that Mariah was the reference vocal. I always liked the sound of that song and would love to hear Mariah's husky vocals and playful coos on the song. What do you guys think? Would we want to hear it?

This is the best news to wake up to on a Friday. I wonder if she is working on a Christmas collaboration album. Brandy, Maxwell, and now The Clark Sisters. It makes perfect sense since she did Oh Santa with JHud and Ariana. It is going to be a great Christmas.

If Mariah is singing with the Clark Sisters that will be amazing. She mentioned them on The First Vision video along with the Edwin Hawkins Singers as the gospel singers she likes. I wonder if MC is heading down a gospel route for the next album, or whether it's going to be a gospel infused Christmas number.

Clark Sisters (98,512)
by Nicky from Jasmine's Sofa

Mystery solved. I have a feeling this may be the group that Mariah was talking about in Spaces. I'm so here for it and very excited. I've always thought that Mariah should cover Optimistic by Sounds of Blackness, it would be amazing if the song with The Clark Sisters has a similar uplifting vibe.

I don't think so. But who knows? I would be happy for you (if the US lambs can go). I just try to enjoy the summer outside, usually I love autumn, but I won't think about what will be in 2 months. I'm so tired of all of this. I hope everybody is well and keep enjoying Mariah's music.

No, I admire the talent. And when Mariah was in her prime with that voice. But I'm just not bothered with her personal life etc. Not that I don't care about her as a person, just think it's her business is all. I still admire her immensely! But I've seen the talk on here carrying on about ex husbands having lots of kids and whatever and well it just doesn't rivet me as much as the talk about her voice, song writing etc.

I love the opening line "It was overcast that day, and I was feeling some kind of way". Almost as poetic as The Roof's opening. My favourite from MIAM is Make It Look Good. Stevie's harmonica harmonising with Mariah's upper register is brilliant. Should have been a single and would have been another #1 like Migrate.

This is my favorite song from MIAM. It could have been a summer 2013 hit with the perfect video and remix featuring Chris Brown. I hope that they work together really soon. A Breezy and MC collaboration would definitely garner some radio airplay.

MC's best pop ballad ever. No other pop ballad will ever come close to what Love Takes Time did for her career. Tommy was right about it from the beginning.

Article: Ryan Reynolds gushes over Mariah (98,501)
by MusicfanJ from Germany

That's so cool. I just saw the trailer on TV and to hear Mariah's "Fantasy" really makes me smile. The song still sounds fresh and fun with the one and only vocals by MC. So Fantasy was on "Rush Hour" now on the Ryan Reynolds movie. I think there was another one. Anyway I will never forget when Daydream came out, with Fantasy at number one and played every day on the radio and at MTV. What a wonderful time, carefree and happy just like "Fantasy". It was the song of the summer, with Mariah mania.

Yes I remember the excitement too of my parents driving me down to London, I remember meeting up with my parents after and they said they could hear her outside and were imagining my face being inside. I was sat on the bottom bit just under half way back. I'll have to dig the ticket out.
I took my best friend Claire with me who also loved her. I went to the Rainbow tour on my own. I got the train down and stayed at the Hilton Wembley. I was 21 but remember feeling excited but also quite nervous being in London on my own. That time I was sat on the side right by the stage. A couple of years later I moved to London so when it came to the Charmbracelet tour I managed to get 2nd row. SSF tour I got front row in Manchester and Leeds and about 10th row at Birmingham. I couldn't go the Caution tour as was away for my mums birthday was gutted as been to all U.K. concerts and would like to have seen her at the Royal Albert Hall too. Christmas tour I was about 10 rows back as couldn't justify the money as I'd spent loads seeing her in Vegas 3 times that year and one of those times I was front row too. All this concert talk has got me feeling nostalgic.

Yes agree, it is a beautiful cover. I'm sure I remember reading somewhere it was inspired by a Marilyn Monroe shot. It does exude that sort of silver screen look, and her face is lovely.
As for the London date of the Daydream tour, glad to have a fellow attendee in my midst haha. Whereabouts were you seated? I remember crying my eyes out when my dad said he managed to get tickets, he was on hold for hours hah. I took my Talkboy (remember those?) so I have a terrible cassette recording, but I did manage in the later years to get my hands on some better recordings and some video footage. Unfortunately, that's all stored in my parent's attic at the moment so not sure when I will be back there to find it. I do intend to stick it all on YouTube one of these days, and this group will be the first to know of course.

I would love Mariah's next album cover to be a close up cover like Music Box. I feel I would get better support and show the classic side of Mariah again. What you guys think?
