One long month (110,822) by Jamie from UK
I've noticed my preorder on UK Amazon won't arrive until 6th October. I wonder if all CD's produced are coming from the USA? I've preordered on iTunes too but thought it was a bit odd not getting the physical copy on the day it's released, they normally send them out early to ensure this.

Release and promote Sugar Sweet album version (solo) (110,820) by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
From the album tracklist I'm sure the song is Mariah's solo version. So now that we have about less than 1 month from the album release, might be good idea to release the album version with a proper video on the beach with her and her male dancers (shirtless) doing choreographer. We all know Mariah doesn't want anymore female dancers. For that VMA performance, Mariah should be doing medley of Type Dangerous/Sugar Sweet/Here For It All. Imagine the climax ending of the performance where Mariah belt the "here for it all" and the music stop to make it like acapella. We don't need her hits medley because it won't sound good. Refer her medley at Billboard Awards 2019. That medley performance should be deleted. She was shaky and crack and nervous. Come on Mariah and Gamma. Do it right this time. This would be her last album and her next album would definitely be in 2035. Most of all here won't be here for it all anymore.

Bobby A. rumor has it she's adding songs for the deluxe version with some remixes possibly including a Sza collaboration based on the love she's been showing MC on social media with heavy hints.

I wish a Sza collaboration could've made the original album. Better late than never but I just hope it's not dropped if HFIA doesn't perform as well as she wanted it to initially.

MC the GOAT (110,817) by Dove from United States
I don't blame Stella or Nick for dips in her success but they're not my favorite. I feel like MC was heartbroken because of Nick and after watching the E reality show a few times I don't think Stella was a good influence or had the best intentions for her. I don't think they were the best for her personal life.

All I Want for Christmas Is You (110,816) by Dove from United States
It would be funny if it was another song of the decade for her. It's been #1 for the last six years. We just gotta keep the momentum going for four more years. I don't know how that works, though, (song of the decade) but that would be neat if it was her third one.

Rick Fox* who also used to be married to Vanessa Williams (the 1st AA Miss America). There were always dudes shooting their shots at MC. Whether it was Tupac, Matt Dillon or random clowns - like the thirsty one she chose to marry on a whim. I have very little faith Rick would have been a better husband to Mariah than he was to his first wife. But he wouldn't have treated her any worse either.

*I'm so impressed by the fact Webmaster Eric has kept the MCA brand so intact for almost 3 decades that it's nearly impossible not to end up being directed back here whenever I wanna verify or check my Mariahpedia memory.

Christmas shows (110,813) by Edward from USA
Of course she is going all out this Christmas. "AIWFCIY" is two weeks away from dethroning Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" and Shaboozey's "A Bar Song (Tipsy)". After that she should release "Someone's Ugly Daughter".

Yes, you may want to record it on VHS or make a DVD. This is going to be something to watch again 5 years from now.

They are different. Butterfly is more artistic, and Daydream is very commercial and in the moment. Art and commerce don't have the same criteria in comparison. They're just different.

Personally I listen to them depending on my mood. If I'm home and contemplating, I listen to Butterfly. If I'm in the park or doing my groceries, I listen to Daydream.

What's worse is there has only been one music video in almost five months. That is so not like Mariah. I hope she wasn't forced into releasing an album before she is ready to really undertake the amount of promotion it takes. I've been seeing that Amazon pre-orders is currently only at 1,200 albums pre-sold in the USA. Add the 5,000 that it will due on iTunes and that is going to be a very low first week debut. A hit song sells an album, and unfortunately she doesn't have that. Word of mouth will be an uphill battle for her, the only hope is the MTV VMA's turns it all around for her. I hope everyone is taking a second out of their day to vote for Mariah and Type Dangerous on MTV.com for the VMA's. That second award could go a long way in helping her get the word out about upcoming music.

I've never liked the constant blame game, it's always someone else's fault but Mariah's. Framing a powerful, intelligent, and successful woman as if she's perpetually helpless is just another way of infantilizing her. Mariah has been steering her career for decades now. An artist in "shackles" wouldn't have been allowed to put out a video openly mocking her label's head like that.

Yes, Tommy was controlling and evil at some point, but she also built a thriving career and life beyond him. Mariah has always been an active participant in her own story, it's not as if Nick and Stella just happened to her. Even when she was only 19, she was making choices, and now at 56, with years of experience and every tool at her disposal, she continues to do so. The woman have human walking sticks for heaven sake.

All of her life's lessons have shaped her into the woman she is today: an icon, not a victim. So, however this show plays out, good or bad, she's part of it.

Wise words Bill. Yes a lot of the time artists blame their record companies for the lack of sales, promotion etc when in truth it's mainly down to the artist themselves and their direction. Mariah was less popular after Butterfly for moving away from core audience. That's not to say her work wasn't good, it just wasn't as popular.

I'm hanging in there, I am excited, my post was taken out of context. When I said I'm loosing interest it wasn't in the project it was more the drawn out process. Just seems to be taking forever that's all. 12 weeks since TD was released on June 6th. And we still have another 4 weeks to go. I'm just an old school lamb that isn't used to waiting this long for the album from lead single. I'm excited now we have the song titles, but that just wants me to have the album even more quicker.

I honestly think that "Butterfly" is superior to "Daydream" as an artistic effort. I wish "Butterfly" had been recognized at the 1998 Grammys in the categories where she was nominated. The songwriting and production are just better than on "Daydream" and she approached the vocals with more restraint. Rich Juzwiak's review of the album for Slant Magazine really encapsulates why "Butterfly" is her best album. The hip-hop elements were incorporated in a very classy manner and were not overdone like they were for some songs on "Rainbow" and "Glitter."

I think "One Sweet Day" deserved to win something, but Seal's "Kiss From a Rose" was also a really great song from that year. It was a little strange to award Best Pop Album to "Turbulent Indigo" by Joni Mitchell - I have that album and it is not one of Joni Mitchell's best. She lost best female pop vocal performance to Annie Lennox's "No More I Love You's", which is kind of silly too. "Fantasy" is definitely a better record than that one. She lost best female R&B vocal performance to Anita Baker and Album of the Year to Alanis Morissette. There was a lot of competition for Mariah from all directions, but I do agree she should have won something considering she was nominated for so many and considering how successful the album was.

Maybe she would have won some awards at the 1996 Grammys if "Daydream" had been released a little earlier in 1995? "One Sweet Day" and "Always Be My Baby" did not really catch on as hits until 1996, so they may not have had enough exposure by the time of the award ceremony.

Common denominator of Mariah being a hit maker (110,802) by MhieMhie from Vietnam
It's her voice. All her chart topping hits have all one thing in common. The Mariah signature sound. Within the subconscious of the people, there is always this Mariah standard that despite how catchy or good whatever song she releases, people are imprinted with grandiose vocals and that is why lambs also feels the underwhelming feeling. We may not be able to hear her belt so strongly but grateful to what she is still giving to us. Sorry I just realized this why Mariah haven't had a new hit in ages. But despite all artists age and her voice - just way too soon.

My Love (110,801) by Carlos from Brazil
I am really excited for the Paul McCartney cover. It's a staple on the AC stations in Brasil and I am hoping for a new IWTKWLI moment for MC here. I also love the fact that Mariah got back to the classic album route that has a cover, a gospel song, the rap features, the big ballads and the slow R&B jams.

NBA Player (110,800) by Lambi from USA
I'm reading the memoir, and she's talking about her love story with Nick: "We talked about life and music. I just wanted to be around him. Once, I even left a date with a very handsome and legendary basketball player to ride in the car with Nick so he could be the first to listen to my newest album, E=MC²."

My fellow lambily sleuths, who was this handsome and legendary basketball player? And why the hell didn't he try harder? Why did Mariah pass him up? Love could've turned out so much better for MC.

Now nobody cares. They're handing out Grammys to anyone. It barely means anything anymore. It's just fun to connect the dots and realize how psychotic Tommy could be when going through a divorce. I fully believe he played a part in her public humiliation. He was flexing his power. You're right though, it actually just backfired. Mariah just hated him even more. It's kind of like when a parent does something to discipline their kid but didn't realize they over did it so now their child hates them forever.

Mariah has said it always hurt her that they didn't push Butterfly because she really put her heart and soul into it. She also talked about funding a lot of Rainbow herself, and probably losing money on tour. People forget that while the label writes the check, artists usually pay for everything in the end. Video shoots, promo, tour support, those costs get recouped from the artist's own earnings. So yes, technically Columbia paid, but in reality, Mariah paid.

She lost revenue. She was already covering a lot herself, and after Daydream, her budget shrank. That's fair, she didn't have big hip-hop hits yet. Still, I'd defend Breakdown any day. It should be an R&B classic like Say My Name. Sony kept investing, but not hard. They pushed her just enough to meet the contract because all the producers, writers, engineers, PR still had to be paid. Just not prioritized.
