She is not super skinny when she was 20 but she looks super feminine and healthy, real curvy body. And yes, I don't see any changes in face in terms looking like as a cat lady or those sucked in cheeks like Demi Moore suddenly has. So yes, I don't see that. Random thoughts about aging and beauty (110,314) by Dove from United States I was thinking about Mariah Carey and how she still looks really young. I'm approaching that age where women start "needing" to get injectables and I'm trying to decide what kind of woman I'm going to be. Then I started thinking about famous women who are choosing to age naturally. I saw some pictures of Pamela Anderson and I thought she was still really beautiful. Drew Barrymore, Alicia Keys, Kelly Clarkson, Alicia Silverstone. They're all still really beautiful. Then I thought, "They're lying to us, we don't need that stuff." Then I thought about Demi Moore and Mariah Carey who have had work done and they're really beautiful too, just in a different way. I think a big reason to want to look younger is if you're trying to attract a younger man. I feel like someone would still be attracted to an older woman who looks her age, though. Do all men prefer younger women? Pamela Anderson still got a man and he seems to really like her. I've always been okay with lasers and chemical peels but injectables kind of scare me because if they're not done right they can make a person look worse. I'm glad Mariah is looking her best for this era but it must be so much pressure. I wouldn't mind if she started aging after this era. Not that my opinion matters but I was thinking about how people notice famous people's (and everyone's) appearance. I think a person's personality has a lot to do with their beauty too. Stop the nonsense (110,273) by Dave from USA While at times, I agree that it does seem like the board can pile it on concerning Mariah, that's what the board is for to an extent. I don't feel like this is one of those times. There is a distinct different between the young girl in the (First Vision) VHS tape, singing her behind off to the heavens effortlessly and describing how she is so thrilled to see her song on Billboard at number 53, excited that it's even there versus who is standing there now, miming a song (badly), showing little to no effort/energy during the performance, and thinking the image is enough to offset whatever loss occurred with her amazing vocal gift. I don't think people would have any issue with the diva persona (if) she still had the vocal chops. As a fan, I'm torn between wanting her to continue to create music but not insulting my intelligence when it comes to not being able to even put on a decent baseline performance. There was a time when I was excited to see Mariah perform because I had no doubt she would knock it out of the park. Effortlessly. Now, sometimes I'm overly nervous to watch in real time for fear her miming is obvious or that her voice can't maneuver around the simplest of notes. I often read here first before I even watch it to see what I may encounter. Trust me, I get it. Back in 99/2000 I was looked at as one of the bad guys for pointing some things out about MC. I was mainly worried about the image more than the voice back then, and it took me years to admit that something has happened to her vocal gift. Literally years for me to accept what people were already starting to whisper back then. I want the best for MC. I'm sure all of us do. Like I mentioned before, she, like every other artist, is putting herself out there for the opinions/comments. That time Mariah extended Whitney a sister diva helping hand (110,285) by John from USA A little change of pace from the goings on in this site these past few days. In 2008, Whitney Houston went to perform for the president of Kazakhstan. Apparently, because of her vocal condition and her reputation in the industry at the time as an unreliable performer, she was unable to secure background singers for the gig. Her management company was also unable to obtain insurance for potential background singers for the gig. When Mariah Carey heard about this, she immediately bring it into action and offered to send three of her very best female background up singers to help Whitney. Whitney did not even have to ask. Mariah not only sent the ladies an across the world to help Whitney but she foot the bill for their insurance, travel, stay and rate. She sent Melanie, Maryanne and Teka. And y'all know vocalist don't play about sharing their background singers, haha. Also, there is a lot of talk here about Mariah's personality. I think that is just a character she created for herself to not feel stiffed by fame and celebrity. She created this over the top character as a survival mechanism. People can pick apart, criticize and even praise that persona, which she know everyone will as she's constantly in front of the camera. Pride and inner peace (110,309) by Zachariah from Croatia She holds a significant place in the hearts of many within the LGBTQ+ community - not just as a pop icon, but as a symbol of resilience, self-expression, and empowerment. As a straight man, I could not relate to that aspect but as a child of war, being tortured and held captive along with my parents back in early 90's in the Balkans, her lyrics and her music was a saving grace under a blanket in a shelter while bombs were falling around us. I think that's why I love Butterfly album more than any because it was the first album released after the war that I could enjoy in freedom.
