Jamie, I don't think that's a clip for the official video. It's another home video clip for TikTok/promotion like she did for TD as well. She looks good, yes the editing is off. She looks so beautiful when she smiles, needs to do that more than these serious expressions that read more lost than sexy. Looking forward to seeing how she performs SS in Brighton. She's going to bring the energy again like the Capital ball.

Shot voice (110,245) by Dove from United States
Brian Wilson still performed into old age, even with a shot voice, and his fans would still come see him. I think she can do it for as long as she's comfortable but I put myself in that spot and I'm not that brave. That's why I get nervous for her. But apparently I've been harsher on her than the general public. I asked my coworker if she liked the new Mariah song on the radio (the coworker who sent me the picture of the little screen in her car) and she said she did. She's young too, I think she turned 24 this year. She would tell me if she didn't like it, she's really blunt.

I can't believe how she still looks 35. Also, I love the ensemble and how they did a little close-up of her chest. Lol.

What Virgin Records could have been for MC (110,242) by Jamie from UK
Yes I agree, they should have given her more of a chance, but I think it was more to do with the negative publicity around her breakdown etc. In those days it wasn't accepted to have any mental health struggles and you were written off.

Update on Type Dangerous (110,241) by Jamie from UK
The UK one is only sales and not the official chart which would be compared to the Hot 100. The official chart is the only one that counts here and I think it even charted on there unfortunately.

I often wonder has she had vocal surgery and this is the result of it. I was listening to I Don't a couple of days ago, and whilst it might not be some people's favourite (I like the song just the video is a no no for me), she's actually singing on it and sounds good, and that was only 2017. Something serious has happened in that time, either personal or vocal surgery gone wrong.

Sugar Sweet (110,239) by Jamie from UK
That's cool that she's been responding on X. Maybe that's why she doesn't look happy in the [Sugar Sweet] video, maybe she's realised it's not working. I'm not on X so I can't comment on what they have been saying, but it's nice she's interacting with them.

So Mariah has shown a clip of the new [Sugar Sweet] video. What you guys think? She loves a stairway I'll give her that, remember I Don't. I love the ensemble, she looks really nice. I just wish her face would show it too, she looks miserable, she looked happier in the kitchen clip she did. There's a part in the video where her eyes go to the left like she's looking for direction, it's a poor edit if that's gonna be in the final video. She looks nice, I just don't think it's going to rescue the song.

What Virgin Records could have been for MC (110,237) by Bobby A from United States
I was thinking today and wondering what MC's career with Virgin Records would have been like if they didn't buy out her 80 million dollars contract. The Virgin executives surely didn't support an established artist who had sold millions during the first ten years of her career. Just because her first album for the label didn't live up to their expectations, they decided to cut their losses and buy out her contract for 28 million dollars. Glitter was a soundtrack and not a regular album. They could have given her some grace and allowed MC to record a non soundtrack album. I am just thinking today about the "what if" with Virgin Records after 24 years. Virgin Records has other instances when they did support their artists when they were in a crisis or underperforming like Boy George, Janet Jackson, D'Angelo, and Aalyiah's family.

Sugar Sweet YouTube reviews (110,236) by Dove from United States
I just spent the last hour watching YouTube reviews on Sugar Sweet and all the ones I've watched so far seem to love the song. So maybe I'm wrong. Also, I found my Bose speaker and I can hear the boom more on that speaker.

People were saying the high parts (that I think sound strained) sounded "raw" and they love it. I guess we'll see how it does. All the reviewers I watched I didn't know, I just searched "Sugar Sweet" reviews and followed the trail.

Honestly, if she's going through all that and (if) the voice is totally shot, then she's inviting the scrutiny. It would be better to walk away at that point as she would bring significant damage to her legacy. Other's can't be relied on to do the heavy lifting for a vocalist. If a vocalist has no voice, then it's time to stop.

As for the new song, I'm not surprised at all. Disappointed but not surprised. She is 56 and still talking about getting the ring and all that love struck 20 year old little girl stuff. It's not going to sell in this day and age.

I'm trying to make "fetch" happen (110,234) by Dove from United States
I know nobody liked my idea but I'm going to say it again because I think it's a good idea. One of the songs should start out with that clip of her saying "Imma do the best I can with what I got." Then it should move into an intro like Ghetto Superstar and the song should have a strong beat and guitar riff like that song too. It would be funny.

Going out with a bang (110,232) by Dove from United States
I know it doesn't matter, but I kind of do want to see Mariah at the top again. I want people to discover her back catalog and love her music as much as I do. With how long she takes between projects now, this might be her last album (like Edward said) and I selfishly want her to go out with a bang.

I wouldn't mind if she has to over-engineer songs now, as long as they sound good. I also listened to the songs Bobby A listed, where they're riding the beat, and I like that idea too.

I know The Beatles were only together for 10 years, and they milked those albums forever, but their songs were easy to sing - nobody can sing Mariah like Mariah. So people covering her songs wouldn't help her.

I like the idea of the mini series that was mentioned in the last article. Hopefully they do it justice.

Sugar Sweet (110,231) by Bobby A from United States
I think so too. MJ's streaming numbers would be astronomically high today. You know I wouldn't be surprise if L.A. Reid and Larry Jackson suggest to MC to go into the studio with JD or another producer to record 2-3 more songs to get that hit single. They can manufacture CDs, cassettes and vinyl records within 30 days of HFIA's release. It may be best to record some more songs based upon how some Lambs are responding to MC this week. MC has been responding to some Lambs negative comments about TD and Sugar Sweet on X for the past two days. MC replied, "I love it" to one Lamb's comment about wanting a song with a strong beat. And it is not helping that Sugar Sweet is having very low radio spins today. I am hoping spins and streams pick up soon.

Too bad calling radio stations and requesting your favorite song doesn't work these days. I did that a lot growing up. We live in a different radio world now. Radio station hardly do countdown shows anymore like the top 8 at 8.

Yes, Zachariah that was a total failure on Def Jam's part. Bye Bye over Migrate as the 2nd single is still mind boggling now. Who made that decision?

New music (110,228) by ADAM from USA
So I've read on here several times how some people are disappointed MC is a feature of her own song. While I normally would agree with that sentiment, I think [it's] actually for the best. The cold, hard truth we all can admit, is that her voice is gone. [It's] thin, shrill at times, and not rounded and smooth, [it's] damaged beyond repair her repair. While we could all speculate that vocal surgery could make it better, we really don't know and [it's] clear she doesn't take the risk. So I say all this to say, she creates music now where she can be a featured artist but have other people do the heavy lifting. No one is more aware of the bad state of her voice and limited feature on her own songs than her. She's said many times in the past, when she's not in good voice she is her own worst critic. So I conclude in 2025, to remain positive about her musical contributions, is to accept fate as we see it - she will frontload her music with featured artists, lip sync entirely, and use auto-tune [permanently] in the studio to piece together what's left of her voice.

Sugar Sweet performance (110,227) by Lara from Middle East
Kehlani has more followers on insta than Mariah. Shensea has half of Mariah's numbers. The reason why Mariah collaborated with them is to get more exposure to the young population, without compromising the song quality since their voices blend well... but unfortunately they also didn't promote it heavily on their stories like I think she expected it. Just like Mr beast on her video. Streaming is in the youngest age area, a category most Mariah fans don't fall into.

Old formula, new generation (110,226) by Edward from USA
We really need to stop evaluating single performance through old school lenses. The way people consume music today is completely different. Radio still has a place, but it no longer drives the conversation like it used to. Streaming platforms, curated playlists, and social media are the real players now. Attention spans are shorter than ever, you might not even remember what this post is about by the time you finish reading it, please do not reprimand me. In short, people expect instant access. Who's still calling radio stations to request songs when everything's a tap away?

That old formula: drop a single, hold on to releasing the video until the the song gains some momentum, hit the talk show circuit, it just doesn't work like that anymore. That might've worked during the Oprah days, but the game has changed. If Mariah and her team want "Here For It All" to make real impact, they may need to rethink their rollout strategy.

The focus should be on streaming, YouTube, TikTok, and viral moments. Pure sales don't paint the whole picture anymore, and iTunes isn't indicative of a hit in the making like it used to. "Sugar Sweet" has the makings of a summer hit, it actually reminds me a of "Shake It Off", but these are different times. If it doesn't blow up, it's not the end of the world. Maybe "Here For It All" will be to her next project what "Charmbracelet" was to "TEOM", a warm up for something epic.

I'm not counting this project out though, I'm just not stressing over chart positions. At this point I'd rather have a solid, meaningful album with no big hits than a forgettable one packed with mediocre chart climbers. For me, quality trumps numbers any day.

Instead of wasting time talking about irrelevant things at talk shows, she should go there ready to perform and expose the audience to the very single/project she's trying to promote.

The cars that go boom. (110,224) by Dove from United States
I was watching old videos trying to find some old school songs with booming bass sounds. I came across Sir Mix-A-Lot, Baby Got Back. It unlocked a core memory you guys might appreciate.

When I was in 5th grade I tried out for the school talent show. I tried out to Baby Got Back. Not just the dance. I rapped and danced the whole thing. I bought a pirated cassette with just the instrumental track at the swap meet.

I remember the two teachers let me finish the whole thing and they were trying not to laugh the whole time. When I was done they told me I could not perform that song because it wasn't appropriate.

I was just listening to the lyrics and I did not know what I was singing. I just thought it sounded so good. I remember I would practice in our yard and my mom wouldn't say anything because she didn't speak English. I would put on a whole show for her. Lol.

That's the kind of dance song I'm craving. Or the one about the cars that go boom.

(I'm sorry I'm spamming the board. I'm on a two week vacation and I'm bored. I go back to work tomorrow so my posts will be less.)

Sugar Sweet (110,223) by Zachariah from Croatia
I am not so surprised. The song is good but she should have released it by her self and not with two features in a song. Video should have been already out and not with a delay. And the last, it should have been released as a third single. Type Dangerous is epic comparing to this and the single after should have been an extension of it but with a more powerful beat. Caution was also missing the song with a strong powerful beat. A No No was close but then, not quite. So, if I was on her team or whoever is dealing with her now - release the SS alone, video out now, and next single should be a ballad but ballad that will stop the world in their feet and be amazed. Otherwise, this album is going to be missed from the horizon.
