Why the dislike? (111,142) by Tevin from USA
Is it bad that I prefer "Why you made" remix over Crapfinity? Lol,

Do not come for "Don't forget about us", it's one of my favorite MC songs. The music and lyrics are very good and Mariah's voice is perfect. I actually prefer it over WBT.

Yeah I won't be listening either until a few days after its release. I can't wait to read everyone's comments and opinions about the album. I'm a little bummed out we're only getting 11 tracks after 7 years.

Oh wow, I never knew that. Imagine what the song would have sounded like with the original artist in mind. Man that would have been amazing.

Didn't she already pull a Morticia Addams last year for the It's Time video? It was so hilarious.

Eddie how can you resist? I will be up at 00:00:01 on 26 September to listen to the album. It's been too long since we had new material. I can't wait to read everybody's thoughts on the album, the board will be abuzz I am sure. I'm highly anticipating "Jesus I Do", and the cover of "My Love".

Question: do y'all listen to a new MC album in order, even playing tracks familiar (T-Dang and Sugar Sweet) or go straight to those tracks you want to hear first?

Here For It All streaming party countdown (111,134) by Bill from the UK
He was talking about consecutive number ones, not initial number ones. Mariah holds/held the record with her first five singles making #1. Whitney holds/held the record by having seven singles in succession reached #1. Both incredibly talented and accomplished singers, who were very good friends with each other. Let's not pit them against each other.

Edward I think Whitney’s first solo single was You Give Good Love which peaked at number 3 on the Hot 100. [Webmaster: Whitney's first single was "Hold me" from 1984.]

So Whitney probably holds the most consecutive number 1s record but not her first seven.

Well, we're just weeks away from finally getting "Here For It All". I'm pretty sure the album will be online a few days early, since Amazon and other retailers usually ship so fans can have it by the release day. Seven freaking years... I really hope it's been worth the wait. Even if becomes available before September 26, I won't be listening until I have fully read all the comments here from day one.

I agree. I think "Don't Forget About Us" hit #1 mainly by riding the wave of "We Belong Together". If there's ever been a clone of "WBT", it's definitely "DFAU". Even though I prefer "DFAU" over "TGIFY", the production is definitely stronger.

Whitney's first singles were Hold Me with Teddy Pendergrass which reached no 46, followed by You Give Good Live which reached no 3. She did not send her first five singles to number one. This record by Mariah is a well known and well documented fact and why are we talking about Whitney when it has nothing to do with Mariah's streaming party and the new album?

"With the lead single 'Emotions' ('You're So Cold' was initially considered) she became the first and only artist ever to send her first five singles to #1 on the Hot 100. Legend behavior and it was only album #2."

That information is inaccurate since Whitney Houston set a record by sending seven consecutive singles to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 between 1985 and 1988. She broke the previous record held by The Beatles (six consecutive #1's).

"Saving All My Love for You" (1985)
"How Will I Know" (1986)
"Greatest Love of All" (1986)
"I Wanna Dance with Somebody" (1987)
"Didn't We Almost Have It All" (1987)
"So Emotional" (1987)
"Where Do Broken Hearts Go" (1988)

Mariah was getting close, she had five straight #1's before "Can't Let Go" broke the streak. If Sony hadn't pulled the single from shelves, she could have tied "The Beatles" of six consecutive #1's. But since her later Emotions singles didn't top the chart, she wouldn't have surpassed Whitney.

Day 2 - Emotions (1991)
+ MTV Unplugged EP
+ Emotions EP
+ Make It Happen EP
+ Can You Hear Me (The Rarities)

Today we're streaming Emotions - aka Mariah's "I'm not a one-album wonder" moment. For those of you joining us we will delve deeper in to R&B and gospel territory with splashes of dance and even a jazzy moment (where are our "The Wind" fans at?). Some say "And You Don't Remember" is her best ballad, others "Can't Let Go". They are both included on this spectacular sophomore effort.

With the lead single "Emotions" ("You're So Cold" was initially considered) she became the first and only artist ever to send her first five singles to #1 on the Hot 100. Legend behavior and it was only album #2.

She proved the naysayers wrong with the MTV Unplugged EP - including the ultimate version of "Someday" and the Hot 100 #1 "I'll Be There" cover with Trey Lorenz. Also check out "Can You Hear Me" from The Rarities, which was written during this era. How was this not even a B-Side, at least?

Today's plan: blast the Emotions album with us, followed by the EPs and "Can You Hear Me", then go full living-room concert with MTV Unplugged. Let's show some love to this underrated era. I don't have any social media accounts so feel free to spread this far and wide.

Wednesday (111,127) by Lara from Middle East
So I was watching season 2 of Wednesday Addams, I got serious Mariah vibes watching Morticia Addams. She has that calm, idgaf sarcastic delivery of words that reminds me so much of most Mariah's interviews. I think next Halloween she and the twins with Anderson .Paak should go for the Addams family.

Why the dislike? (111,126) by TJ from Norway
Thank God I Found You and Don't Forget About Us are such a snore-fest. They don't belong with the rest of the number ones. There are so many songs in Mariah's catalogue that should have reach the top spot, but didn't. These two are not the ones.

Thank God I found you (111,124) by Bobby A from United States
MC was a woman in love with Luis Miguel when she wrote TGIF. It would have probably been a better song if it had a gospel choir for the chorus and at the end of the song. TGIF was too pop for me. I wanted more R&B and gospel. That is why the remix was better with the Teddy Riley and Keith Sweat Make It Last Forever sample.

Recreate the magic of OSD is real. She kind of kept going with Westlife on Against All Odds. She was laying down all her cards because it's her final hoorah with Sony. And I agree, TGIFY remix is goated, Make It Last Forever sample is genius.

Yeah true, the boots could've been slightly higher. Mariah's got beautiful legs so she incumbent upon her to accentuate it frequently.

MC + Busta Rhymes VMA After Party footage (111,120) by Lambi from USA
I agree, it's always under the guise of "jest" but Busta was dead ass serious. He's always left hearts on Mariah's Instagram posts, I actually believe he has the biggest crush on her. But we all know about Mariah's no dating rapper policy. I also think Busta isn't cute. Who could blame him though? If Mariah sings "Baby if you give it to me, I'll give it to you" on your record, and you're a straight man, you will fantasize about her. There's no escape. Plus she's aging like fine wine.

Why the dislike? (111,119) by Edward from USA
It's not that I dislike "Thank God I Found You", I just don't really care for it. To me, it feels generic and overcrowded, almost as if Mariah was unsuccessfully trying to recreate the magic of "One Sweet Day". While I don't think it truly deserved the #1 spot, I can admit it's still a decent song. And no, I'd never compare it to Crapfinity, that one is in a league of hideous all on its own. Mariah had a golden chance to redeem that track with the "Why You Mad Remix", ft big names of the moment like Justin Bieber, French Montana, and T.I., yet somehow the result was even worse. On the flip side, the "Thank God I Found You (Make It Last Remix)" is fantastic, and I believe it played a huge role in pushing the original to the top of the charts.

I love TGIFY, it's actually one of my favorites from Rainbow. 98 Degrees did their thing but I would have left Joe as he does nothing for the song. I can understand why some may not like it or call it unforgettable but the song was a hit so it is what it is.
