Yes, And? lyrics (105,555) by Stacey from USA
I'll just say this: Drop the sh-word and f-word in a your next job interview and see if they hire you. I've never understood the need to use cuss words.

Speaking personally, I've had nothing but positive things to say about Yes? And. Just drop the cuss words. They serve no purpose.

Yes, And? lyrics (105,553) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
Jaker, "extra gatekeeping" is a great way of putting it. Thank goodness censored versions of songs have always been played on traditional radio and readily available to stream if that's what you prefer.

The power of GTFO without the actual word loses its power as a song and expression. Even in "It's a wrap", the "put all your sh** in an elevator" or "I should have never given you my [censored] two way" from Clown, lines are so much more expressive and true to the anger the song is projecting (which is the art) then say "put all your stuff in an elevator".

Swearing isn't about age, that's obscured. if you're in your 30's, 40's, 50's and you believe you've out grown curse words, what age range is curse words bond to? I can tell you you won't want it to be your children, teens your young 20's using those words if that's your view on using expressive language. Words only mean something when you put meaning to them.

If curse words are what you're worried your children will hear, I'm sorry, but as a parent in 2024 that's the least of your worries. Say ummm like a criminal eligible to be a global leader, or people not having the freedom to express themselves without death because of how they were born. Those are things to teach the next generation, language is only but a tool of expression.

I'm personally more for not censoring the artist and let Mariah do what she wants. Artists are supposed to express themselves and at this point of Mariah's career, thinking if she should cuss or not should be the least of her concerns.

Mariah, the person, has so many facets and it would be great to see those sides of her, and not write again about when your hero will come along to cast your fears aside or if its supposed to be for people who lost their grandmothers. I love them, I absolutely love those songs. But telling her not to use some lame cuss word in a song which is censored anyway because it might terrify the kids is being extra gatekeeping imo.

And let me remind she's barely released anything anymore, like at all, and hopefully it's not because she cares way too much about what others will say to the point of dropping ideas each time. In fact, I would to argue that it was GTFO and Caution are the highlights in terms of depth that lit her late 2010s career revival.

The good thing is that they usually release clean versions nowadays. In Mariah's defense though, she didn't write the cuss parts on the song.

Let's get it to number one (105,549) by Bobby A from United States
I was looking at the current Top 40 Mediabase Chart for radio impressions and the original version is sitting at #13. Is there a chance that the remix and original version will just be counted together for next week's Billboard Hot 100. Or will it have to be calculated like this?

And yes, Mariah's sound (105,548) by Terna from Nigeria
The new song has been well received, which is good. However I have to be honest here, Mariah does not sound good on recording anymore. She can mask it in live performances, but in the studio, the microphone picks it up ever so easily - that metallic edge in her voice has gotten gravelly and more jarring as she has aged and her mid register is virtually impossible to access without pushing thus the hefty "shouty" belts, her singing now lacks a mix and fluidity key elements for the type of singer she is, with a repertoire that relies heavily on agility and the ease of singing she used to have. I know she's very much aware of this and this message is not in any means or way trying to disrespect her, or make fun of her, this comes from a place of absolute love. I respect the work she's done in music and acknowledge her contributions. However I do feel it's time Mariah considered vocal nodule surgery. At this point they have become obstructive and she cannot sing through or around them like she used to ("My All" comes to mind, you can really hear it on that song). I wish her only the best and a successful surgery should she choose to.

Let's get it to number one (105,547) by jaker20 from US
I heard the Yes, And remix the other day. It was their big "new music this week" with a drumroll announcement. Don't be surprised if it gains some traction on radio, especially on the club radio stations.

But expecting it to go to number one is too much to ask. I feel like it was just Mariah returning a favor to Ariana for appearing on stage with her and JHud last Christmas, and nothing more. They seem to enjoy each other and that's great to see.

I just hope Mariah is more consistent with her releases. There is some buzz right now. She should have a follow up in 3 to 4 weeks, the same way that she should have a follow up immediately after BER blew up, and the same way she should have a follow up every Christmas on January.

Yes, and? better promo strategy (105,546) by jaker20 from US
I agree. The song already hit number, and was already on its way down. Mariah made it a better song, but she cannot save it on the charts. It's too late. I agree with you, if the remix was the original version, it would have been bigger.

Lambs should just enjoy it for what it is, and it should not always be attached to chart position. In 2 days since it was released, Mariah gained 2 million listeners. So it helps her in some other way.

I actually think it will get better airplay over the next few weeks than the original. It might even be a club hit. It's a real bop. But expecting it to be number one is too much to ask. Already, some lambs are trashing it on twitter, because it didn't hit number one on iTunes. Like why does everything have to be attached to the charts. It gives us something to enjoy until the album arrives, so just enjoy it for what it is.

Yes, And? lyrics (105,545) by Tevin from USA
Sorry I don't agree with you. Some people like listening to songs around their young children. One of the reasons why I became a fan of Mariah was because my parents used to play her music all the time around me as I grew up. If she cussed up a storm back in the 90s and early 2000s, my parents would not have played her music around me and guess what, I probably would not have become a fan.

My point is, it's easy to look at it through adults eyes, but some people may not like to play explicit lyrics around their kids. Also (this isn't always the case), but I find more and more in today's music that lyrical content has become so lazy now that cussing and other explicitness can be freely said in music. There's one thing to have a strong emotion behind a song to use a cus word, there's a completely different reason to just be lazy and throw in words here and there, because you formulate a strong thought or emotion into a lyric. Basically what I'm saying is that many popular songs have lost their depth.

"Yes" (105,544) by Edward from USA
The remix of '"Yes, and?' was released when the original single was already losing traction, making its impact minimal. Moreover, the remix fails to elevate the essence of the original. In my humble opinion, ccllaborating on this remix was a huge mistake, she should've reserved such a collaboration for different a project. I understand that many enjoy the remix, but I find myself surprised to admit that in this case Ariana's vocals outshines Mariah's. While Ariana exudes smoothness and effortlessness, Mariah sounds like a dying cat, to the point where even her signature whistle notes sound off. Crucify me if you want to.

Time of release UK (105,543) by 123 from USA
Stacey great minds think alike. I've been listening to MB30 since its release. Mostly to Dreamlover, AILF Extended, Workin Hard Remix, IBTAY Remix. Ifs it's late I listen to My Prayer, Do You Think of Me and all the moody tracks on the second CD and sometimes let the live concert just play. She has been giving us new stuff each year. I'll take some quality unreleased tracks any day from her while we wait for a new album.

Yes, And? lyrics (105,541) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Excatly. I'm 39, and to put the f. word and other cencored words aren't art to me. It cheapens a pop song. The language of today is often vulgar enough. I find it childish and not necessary. It's my right to not like it. If other ones enjoy those lyrics fine. Tastes are different, especially in art. I prefer lyrics like "Butterfly". Poetic, energizing, touching. Honey, My All and Fantasy are great too. And "Touch my body" is just fun with the video hilarius.

MC is trying to be young again or be a part of what is hip in today's music industry. Although she has done this collaboration, I don't think MC16 will follow in this direction. I believe she has a plan to get back on the pop charts. We have to trust her on this collaboration. She will make us proud soon. I want to hear that Clark Sisters song so bad.

Self-love and empowerment are better found in lyrics like Hero, Through the Rain, My Saving Grace, Fly Like a Bird and so on. It's a shame the woman who wrote lyrics like those found on Outside, Butterfly, My All, Looking In and Petals now sings about riding a D.

I'll go back to playing Selfish on repeat all day.

The local radio played Beys "Texas hold em" yesterday. The clean version. The radio presenter was praising the song. I think the song really works for the radio. With "yes and" I'm not so sure. It's interesting to read your thoughts about the airplay for "yes and the remix". Can someone post a (US) chart position for next week?

TCOM promotion (105,537) by Bobby A from United States
MC will be doing her TCOM talk show promotional rounds here really soon. I sure hope she does more daytime tv interviews than late night. I feel she is more relax on daytime tv than late night tv. I would love for her to join The Talk with Jerry O'Connell and talk about TCOM and the 25th anniversary of the Heartbreaker video. If she does late night tv, I hope she stops by Stephen Colbert's show. Colbert and MC had me laughing so hard the last time she stopped by his show.

Yes, and? better promo strategy (105,536) by "MariahHater" from Hell
For me the remix is way too late to be released. If they have made the remix as the main version, I think this will blow out of proportions and stay at number 1 for 2-4 weeks lol. But yeah charting or nah, the song is good for me since it's fresh, uptempo and belty Mariah I have been longing for a decade. Pre chorus made me in shambles as I thought it was Ariana but Mariah came neck in neck with her.

I'm a 46 year old adult who doesn't care for profane-laced lyrics. Spare me the "it's art" argument. It's an old and often overused reason to justify such unnecessary decisions. The song is just fine without it. Why add it? Makes zero sense to me.

I couldn't agree more Matty. We have no right to censor the artist. Some here won't like anything MC puts out regardless. I personally enjoy the music and will support all of MC's efforts. Basically, if Mariah likes it, then I like it. Consider the records a gift. One day MC will no longer be here and they've sat there complaining and waiting for projects that will never come. Instead, they could be more supportive and be grateful, it shouldn't be hard for her biggest fans. If they can't do that it's ok but, with all due respect, maybe it's time to move on.

Signed copies (105,531) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I hope soon lol just because it's just too much. Between 2021-2024 she's released like what 5 albums? 4 of them re-records. She's always getting her fan base to hate on her partners but can't take the same heat when she's remotely criticized. She's also milking the Eras tour for all it's worth and I think she will release all her re-records while she has the Era's tour spotlight on her. The whole Travis Kelce thing is 100% manufactured in my opinion to keep her in the spotlight. Her fan base argues "she doesn't need more money, she's already a billionaire or she doesn't need more fame she's already famous", but if there's one thing we know about rich and famous it's that nothing is ever enough. Yes she's a billionaire, but she definitely will do anything to earn more money because she has to support the lifestyle she has. Yes she is uber famous but she knows she has to keep being in the spotlight because out of sight out of mind. After 1989 she vanished and no one even thought about her until she came back, then again she had a down phase, to the point for one of her songs I forget if it was Willow or Cardigan she had to release like 20 versions to compete with AIW, and that too fell off after 1 week. Now again we're over saturated.
