Remember when she was the only female pop artist to have two songs debut at #1 before they changed the rules so AirPlay was more impactful? Non commercial releases were not even chart-able then. I hope the BBMA performance does bolster streams and, in turn, overtake the original, but it's nice to actually hear her out. But as I pointed out, the recent Billboard article seems to be crediting Mariah. Why they wrote it that way, I don't know. That said, yes the 50/50 rules makes sense. But when another artists who sampled a song, is the same who did a remix, both of which is helping the "original" (Latto's version) to chart higher. I don't know if this has happened before. BE already stalled outside of the top 10 a month ago until the remix was released. But BE is giving Fantasy a new audience too, so I'm not totally complaining. (Sunday 8 May 2022; 02:21)

The original version of the song sampled Genius of Love, not Fantasy. Just in the same way that Fantasy itself sampled Genius of Love. The rules seem to be quite clear that Mariah would only be credited if airplay/sales exceed that of the original which, in the US at least, appears to have not happened (yet). I believe she is credited in the UK as it is the remix that features Mariah which is currently receiving airplay and being purchased, enabling it to chart. (Saturday 7 May 2022; 17:36)

Fallen Angel by Ella Mai (100,250) by Bobby A from United States Kirk Franklin and his choir did the outro on Ella Mai's Fallen Angel. It is exactly the same melody and harmonies as on Fall In Love At Christmas. The similarities are unreal. MC is always duplicated by other artists. The odd thing is that Kirk Franklin doesn't receive songwriter credit like he did on Fall In Love At Christmas. Can someone post the Fallen Angel outro for me at 3:18 where it begins? Her original is so instrumental in the asking of the song in the first place, plus the fact that the remix is the reason imo that it even went top 5 at all, seeing how the sales skyrocketed after the remix came out. Ironic (100,244) by Matty from Vancouver Canada This whole writing credit convo is beyond ironic. The lambs (as a collective) get so frustrated that Mariah is always seen as a singer in the vain of Celine and Whitney and never recognized first as a songwriter, but when a Lamb is disappointed that Mariah isn't being credited as a songwriter, on a major platform, on a signature song of hers, everyone is telling them to move on and that it's not important. I recently discovered "the Midnight" and I thought Mariah could do one song whith synthi-pop beats. ("Blinding Lights" by the Weekend was cool.) Of course Jazz is still my dream genre for Mariah. Even the most casual Mariah fan knows that she writes all her own lyrics, and collaborates on the music. She of course wrote The Roof, and produced it with Trackmasters.
