Fans being obsessed with being #1 (109,460) by Bobby A from United States
I would be happy with a couple of top 10 Hot 100 hits and then boom singles 3 and 4 both go to number #1 on the Hot 100.

Walter (109,459) by T from USA
I hope the new Babs song mends some of the fences between MC and Walter A. I would love a full circle moment where they create a heartfelt ballad together one day. Because we know, Loooove taaaakes Time. #ItsTime

The psychology of it (109,458) by Haiji from United States
Ok from what I've seen with many TD reactions outside of the lamb reactions, they've all had positive reviews with the song and video, with the exception of 2 reviews saying "she's too old to be making this type of music" and "this song is corny af". During reactions, at times they would pause the video, speak, rewind and as the songs plays, most of them would sing along, as if they already knew the song. This song, whether it charts high or not, is a catchy song. A lot of the reactors even mentioned wanting to hear more new music from her. Mind you, these weren't lambs. So what I'm trying to say is, we might not get exactly another Mimi era with the second single being massive, but if she continues to drop good songs, with great videos and heavy promo, the gp will eventually catch on to her music again, with the possibility of gaining another comeback era. But she needs to stay consistent. A remix should've been dropped already. Guess we'll have to wait and see and just enjoy her wonderful catalog.

Return to the studio (109,457) by Bobby A from United States
I hope for the other songs on MC16 is that MC has more relatable lyrics that her audience can relate to. Lyrics with themes like love and a broken heart, finding love, losing love, being happy and in love, and having a good time. This is why Morgan Wallen's album has multiple songs on the Hot 100 right now. His whole album has songs that his audience can relate to in their own lives.

What's your thoughts? (109,456) by Tevin from USA
Now that the hype for TD has cold off, what is everyone's thoughts on the single? Personally I think it was a fun song and I hope it makes it on MC 16 and doesn't get regulated to buzz single status.

I do think one mistake that was made with the song was the fact that Mariah broke her code of making her songs ambiguous. Songs like Obsessed and ILT was clearly referencing situations in Mariah's life, but lyrically the GP could connect and relate in their own way to the song.

Where in TD whether real or fiction, the lyrics was about Mariah Mariah Mariah. The presentation was to immature for older listeners, while the call backs and references flew right over younger listeners heads. To be honest, it's a good song but if I wasn't a Mariah Carey fan, I could care less what type of love interests she is interested in. That's why I think its failing with the GP.

I'm sure Mariah has even better songs coming. I just hope she has something that is relatable to the GP. Something that's catchy and simple, yet has depth to it, to appeal to all listeners.

What are you thoughts on TD?

Why are you guys so obsessed with Mariah having a #1 why does it matter if she is being recognized and she is being exposed to the world so you think the general public cares about being #1 no so get over it.

Return to the studio (109,453) by Jamie from UK
I just think she's at a point in her career where she isn't gonna have big hits anymore. She got more attention than most legacy artists do but it's just the way it is I'm afraid. Even Cher's Believe moment probably wouldn't happen in today's music climate. I think she did extremely well on those other charts in the USA but for the Hot 100 I think those days are long gone. I might be proved wrong but people just don't buy or stream legacy artists as much, that doesn't take away from Mariah's efforts or artistry, it's just how it is. Everyone has their peak moment and then ultimately comes the slump whether what you're putting out is good or bad. I'm really interested to see the Barbra trio and what MC16 brings but at this point I don't think we should be expecting a huge return to the charts for Mariah. Her image and persona is on point at the moment and I can tell a lot of work has been going in to protecting that and building up the public's view of her. But that's gonna take time, a lot has happened over the years to make people turn away. The best thing that can happen now is for this to continue to protect her legacy and image, and if she gives us new music then even better.

No, Christmas doesn't mean winter but the post suggested that she in only known during that time and that she should stop focusing on USA, which is Ludacris.

In Occam's razor (109,450) by Lambi from USA
The song is flopping because it is simply not good. The free market will always tell you. Still, we should give Mariah a round of applause for reinvigorating her career. Amazing effort on revitalization, just happened to be the wrong single to invest in. Left turn on single choice but right turn on a career move. We see the effort and I am pretty damn certain she got something up her sleeve. We still all should revel on this moment. Have a great day Lambily.

Baby had solid ideas, it's fresh and made perfect sense. With your logic, does winter always mean Christmas? Australia, Brazil, South Africa, Mexico, The Philippines, New Zealand - all experience hot humid Christmases. Have you not thought of that?

Return to the studio (109,447) by Bobby A from United States
It looks like TD fell off the Hot 100 this week. Okay, no WBT clone as the second single. I hear the Lambs. I say that MC should return to the studio and record five more songs with the likes of Rodney Jerkins, Ghost-Kid, and Mel and Mus and drop MC16 in September. Send MC a message on X with your collaboration requests. I sent my Rodney Jerkins and Sza collaboration request yesterday. What Sza and Rodney Jerkins did with Shirt is the type of song MC needs to launch MC16.

It's tii-iime - for Team Mariah to accept that the U.S. is no longer her primary market (109,446) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
You seem to have misunderstood my post. That's why I'm grateful Type Dangerous just debuted #2 on the Japanese AirPlay charts. It proved my point that in some territories Mariah's music can still makes a clear impact all on its own. All I was saying is for Team Mariah to spread the wealth, not put all her eggs in one American basket.

AIW is already locked in as an evergreen. Of course she shouldn't take that for granted or not capitalize on that. Just don't forget that she's really big in Asia and still has room to grow there.

The way I wrote my post was just to frame all that without giving away too specific ideas that anybody can steal and use. This is an open forum. Not everybody who lurks here is a lamb. I can't just be giving away a whole marketing plan.

So I chose an angle that nobody can duplicate because Mariah is the only living Western artist who can really pull it off without much effort. If I went Into the nitty-gritty, the ideas will be applicable to any artist and people would steal it. It is what it is.

I liked it, but I also didn't understand why it went to number one (compared to other gems from her that didn't went so high in the charts). "Can't let go" is a number one for me.

I didn't like DFAU when it was released, because it reminded me of WBT. But the public did, and that was nice. It's one of her number ones I never understood why ended up that high on the charts.

I don't know. With that logic, she should release a Christmas song right now because it is winter there and just keep pretending that it is Christmas time.

Just saw a pic of Mariah with her mum and nephew Michael, probably from the [Butterfly] era. They are on vacation, I love how relaxed Mariah is dressed, she looks so naturally pretty and no diva persona to be seen. Long time ago I know but I miss this Mariah that didn't take herself so serious and wasn't over affected by the fame.

Edward, I understand better today. Sabrina Carpenter was interviewed recently and she sang a snippet of GTFO. I can see Sabrina and MC do a song together. Maybe Sabrina is the one who should step up and suggest a collaboration. It needs to be something fun, uplifting, and fresh sounding.
